The Treasure Within There is a mystery that brings together the Holy Grail, a band of pirates, William Shakespeare, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This mystery is the Money Pit located on Oak Island. People have thrown millions of life savings hoping to get their hands on the treasure in the Oak Island Money Pit, and all have met with failure. This pit has withstood two centuries of people trying to discover the treasure within. I am certain there is treasure located in the Money Pit on Oak Island. Oak Island is located off the shores of Nova Scotia, along Canada’s Atlantic Coast. It is one of three-hundred and sixty islands around Mahone Bay. Rocks and sand skirt the perimeter of the island while native forest and shrubbery cover most of its interior. It’s about 200 meters from the shore of Nova Scotia and is approximately 140 acres. The discovery of Oak Island’s Money Pit begins in the summer of 1795 when a teenager named Daniel McGinnis saw strange lights on an island offshore from his parent’s house. He noticed an odd circular depression roughly 13 ft. in diameter on the island’s forest floor (The Last Great N. page). He also saw that a good amount of oak trees around the recession had been cut down. McGinnis decided to leave the island to ask for the help of his two friends, John Smith and Anthony Vaughan. The next day, the three teenagers began excitedly digging on the curious site. They were so excited because the unpopulated wilderness of the region provided
The character of Long John Silver, the iconic antagonist of Treasure Island, upon whom most stereotype pirates are based, was a layered scoundrel with multiple implied motivations. He manipulated both his crew and his enemies, but was not above switching sides if it suited his goals. He was calm, and ever-calculating, even when faced with defeat, and was clearly more intelligent (and less alcoholic) than his fellow mutineers. A surface scan would lead one to believe that he, like most villains, was simply motivated by greed. While this likely does have some truth to it, it is not the entire case.
“Listen, everybody. I’ve got to have time to think things out. I can’t decide what to do straight off. If this isn’t an island we might be rescued straight away. So we’ve got to decide if this is an island. Everybody must stay round here and wait and not go away. Three of us-if we take more we’d get all mixed, and lose each other-three of us will go on an expedition and find out. I’ll go, and Jack, and Simon.” (Golding, 24) The boys find that they are indeed on an island using Ralph’s intuition. “There’s no village smoke, and no boats,” said Ralph wisely. “We’ll make sure later; but I think it’s uninhabited.” (Golding, 30) Ralph concludes that they are alone on the island. Again we see Ralph using his leadership qualities to help the group
Inherited money is held in much higher esteem than earned money in Savannah, Georgia. This is a theme seen throughout Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, John Berendt's non-fictional account of life in Savannah. Characters such as Jim Williams, who worked for their money and brought themselves up the social ladder, are seen as being beneath those who inherited their money, such as Lee Adler. The old wealth tend to look down on anyone who wasn't born with their money. Their views of just about everything, including laws and punishments, differ depending on whether the person in question is of wealth due to blood or sweat.

Abigail Chance’s mother has unexpectedly passed away leaving the estate to her. After the reading of the will, the lawyer approaches Abigail with a secret letter from her mother. Her mother warns her not to share this information with anyone except those whom she trusts. She explicitly tells Abigail to never breathe a word of this to Pastor Kincaid who has been after the family for years. It seems that Anne Bonney, one of her relatives, has left a box buried nearby with information on a treasure. Unfortunately, she’s not the only one that’s after this infamous treasure.
The pit was found by Daniel McGinnis on Oak Island in summer, 1795. As he was sitting below a tree, he noticed a circuler depression in the ground (A depression in geology is a landform sunken or depressed below the surrounding area). since thre were tales of pirates in the area, he decided to get some friends and shovels and come back. The next few days, Daniel McGinnis, John Smith, and Anthony Vaughan got to work digging down into the depression, and at two feet they came across some flagstones blocking thier way down. At 10 feet a wall of logs spanned the pit. Same thing happened with 20 feet and 30 feet. By now they couldn't continue, so they left and made plans to return.
This book by David Adler, was about Cam Jansen trying to solve a mystery, about a thief who stole her film, and the gold coins. The main character in this story was Cam Jansen. In the begging of the book, Cam was very confident, because of the fact that she didn't mind when the robber broke a piece of her camera. She felt like giving up, but then her friend helped her to preserver and gain belief.
He had taken me aside one day and promised me a silver fourpenny on the first of every month if I only keep my “weather-eye open for a seafaring man with one leg,” and let him know the moment he appeared. Change can be positive or negative, it is unpredictable, and it is inevitable. Silver in the book Treasure Island changes in positive and negative ways such as standing up for Jim when the rest of the mutineers want him dead, turning on Jim and the rest of the non-mutineers, and taking off with a sack of gold. Long John Silver from Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson changed by the forces and his identity changed because of friends such as Jim and fellow buccaneers, the greed for the buried treasure, and the conflicts between good and
The chapter in history regarding Oak Island Money Pit occurred when it was first discovered in the summer of 1795. Dan McGinnis, a teenager who lived on the shore of nearby Nova Scotia, reportedly saw strange lights on the island. McGinnis boarded a small canoe alone to explore the island late that night. Upon first exploration, he found a large hole in the ground measuring 13 feet in diameter. He also

In the book by R. L. Stevenson, Treasure Island, the character Long John Silver changes in many ways. He changes because of many forces, ranging from greed to peoples actions toward him. (Stevenson 60) All of the forces are vitally important to Silver’s development as a character. The forces of change caused Long John Silver to act the way he did, and why he did the things he did.
In my observation throughout the story Du Tenth Sinks the Jewel Box in Anger, money plays a significant role. In my belief Li Jia has always been careless about money. Even from the start, Li Jia paid money to Du Mei so that she would spend time with him. Du Mei thought that this action was an act of love but, little did she know love cannot buy happiness. She learned this when it became too late.
In 1991 Henri Cosquer found a cave. It was 120 feet beneath the ocean. The cave was very old. It was a prehistoric cave.
In 1850 the Truro Company that was trying to excavate Oak Island and get the water out of the pits found out that the beach known as Smith’s cove was actually artificial and was causing the Money pit and all surrounding holes to flood.
Food and water must be found if one wishes to last more than a week on the island. A weapon of some sorts would be useful considering there could be animals living on the island that are possibly deadly. Before leaving for the island, the father had his sons search the ship anything that might be useful once they reach land. The spoils that were collected consisted of weapons that could be used for hunting and defence and food to sustain the family. On the short voyage from the shipwreck to the island, they managed to gather more containers of food and other goods for when the landed. The day after they had arrived on shore, the father and the oldest son, Fritz, walk down the beach and come across sugarcane and coconuts. They gathered some of each and took their spoils back to camp. Later, a trip is made back to the shipwreck to retrieve more valuable items, including livestock. On one of their fist nights on the island, jackals come across their camp. Fritz shot one of them with a rifle that the had brought from the ship. In the end, the Robinsons probably would not have lasted as long as they did without the supplies they had gathered before leaving the
