The Truth Will Set You Free

Benjamin Franklin once stated that “Honesty is the best policy; the truth will set you free”. This quote means that telling the truth will lead to positive results because telling lies will end up in problems for yourself or others. “Honesty is the best policy, the truth will set you free” can be arguable as it contains error of being truthful always, when some of the time we can be. Some people have trouble with honesty and telling the truth. Anybody can’t say throughout their life, they have never told a lie. I have lied many times before that I cannot recall all the times I did. However, lies can be of advantage or disadvantage. From my perspective, some lies are acceptable, while others aren’t. It all depends upon what’s the purpose of that lie. There are two incidents that I can think of when lying was the appropriate thing to do and one when it wasn’t.

Growing up in Guyana is close to being what we would all call a “struggle” or in other words, limited resource and opportunities. Most of the kids around my neighborhood were either stealing and get killed or get away with it. This can be applied to me and one of my childhood friend name Nickosi.
