The Uninsured & Underinsured Population HCA305 March 11, 2001 The United States is considered the richest country in America, but when it comes to the healthcare system, the United States may be one of the poorest. According to the World Health Organization the United Stated 37th for the best healthcare in the world and that is one below Costa Rica. This proposal will also give a little insight on how our healthcare system compares to other countries and the issues of how just how and why the United States are number 37 on the list for the World Health Organization. Preventive care would reduce major healthcare cost while improving quality care for US Americans which would then reshape US healthcare by keeping Americans healthy. It seems the main discussion is on the budget deficit. We are not proposing that we adopt 100 percent of any other country’s healthcare system to create a better healthcare system, just take in consideration what works in their system and see what we can have implemented to our healthcare system. The United States should not rank number 37 when it is considered the richest country in the world. You can no longer be considered the richest country when the American citizens are sick and dying because 1 out of every 6 Americans do not have health insurance for their own person financial reasons cannot afford subsidized health insurance and not enough to cover their insurance policy The American healthcare system would save over 200 billion dollars a year if we take some of pointers from the Canadian Healthcare system such as: Pay doctors 1/3 less Pay less for drugs High salaries for the CEO of insurance companies and HMO Preventive Care Doctors deserve credit for doing what they are trained to do, not to mention that most doctors are dedicated to taking care of all American citizens and may be willing to take a pay cut to help insure Americans so they can continue to do the job the
