The United States of America has always been projected as a developed and liberalized nation when it is compared to other countries. China, for instance, is a very strict and still developing nation. However, that is not the case. Environmentally, the USA and China both undergo horrible air pollution that affects not only the land, but the people as well. People are constantly inhaling the harmful debris without knowing it. Most of the black carbon that ends up in residential areas comes from transportation vehicles while soot that is released by factories are spread throughout the air. The dark smoke that is expelled from factories, buses, ships, and trucks is black carbon. The only way to transport materials across the world must be through planes or boats, which use and expel the most soot. Once all of the material is shipped to its destination, large trucks are used to transport all the individual bins to its endpoint. This creates many trips across cities, through neighborhoods, and past small communities that consist of adults, teens, and young children. Exposure to road traffic noise and air pollution has both been associated with risk for stroke. Long-term exposure to road traffic and ambient air pollution are both suspected of increasing the risk for cerebrovascular events, which makes the outdoors not only dangerous for adults, but for the children as well (Sorensen et al, 49). Black carbon is very dangerous due to its small size and its ability to enter the body in large amounts without realizing it. Over time, the tiny particles can cause damage to our respiratory system, resulting in respiratory diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, and pneumonia. This makes matter worse for by-standards such as cyclists in the neighborhood. Cyclists are exposed to traffic-related air pollution
