How lucky we are to be living in this century, with the technology that is available to us. All around us is the opportunity to cast our nets and create an affordable and visually stunning marketing campaign- all at a fraction of the cost it would have in the past. Targeted and geographical marketing is like a fine science now (much more precise) and businesses are reaching places they never thought possible. Search engines, social media, and blogging are the common place to promote services and products. The questions that I am aiming to answer today are how the three compare to each other, and also do you really need to use all three to be successful/ should you intertwine them all to create a triple threat to competitors? The gateway to searching for your business is with the usage of a search engine. When you think of an item that you would like to purchase you type into the search engine those “key words”. The usage of search engine optimization (SEO) is what gets your businesses name at the forefront of the page (Kissmetrics 2016). For example, if you are going to search for “sporting goods”, the first six names that come up are all for the retail chain Dick’s Sporting Goods. Further down the page is also a listing for Dunham’s Sports (another sports merchandise retailer), but it is clear that Dick’s has the market cornered as far as SEO is concerned.
