The use of the creative writing elements impact this non-fiction text in many ways. When he uses the creative writing elements you can visualize the situation better. One example, in paragraph two it says, “Flames shot up, igniting the line of hanging paper patterns.” When he says “Flames shot up,” you can visualize the flames being uplifted. The second example I noticed is in paragraph one it says, “Most likely, a cutter flicked a hot ash or tossed a live cigarette butt into a scrap bin,” which helps you visualize the ash being jerked into the air. Another example in paragraph four, it says, “Heat can easily damage their machinery, leaving trapped passengers dangling in space, to burn or suffocate.” When the author says that, you can visualize

The man, wearing a black sash around his body, has a soot-stained face, which makes it appear as if he works in some fiery place. David soon recognizes the stranger as the devil, the black man. Twenty years later we had a family reunion with all my relatives and they started talking about the fire.
In the nonfiction text, “Flesh and Blood So Cheap,” the author uses different kinds of creative writing elements to have an impact on his story. Author Albert Marrin uses creative writing elements in his story, such as figurative language, the point of view, etc. The author use figurative language in paragraph 2, “A foreman ran for the hose on the stairway wall. Nothing! No water came. The hose had not been connected to the standpipe. Seconds later, the fire leaped out of control. ” Marrin use personification in this quote, “fire leaped” which creates an image in readers’ mind. Another example of a figurative language that Marrin use in paragraph 2, “Cutters flung buckets of water at the smoking spot, without effect. Flames, shot up, igniting

They were taking their time walking down the streets and for the first time they all were really seeing what was all around them. Memories were surfacing in their minds showing them what it all meant to them. With every step they took on the sidewalk they remembered a different memory as if they were walking down memory lane. Ponyboy didn’t think it was possible for him to be walking down this street for the last time as a high school student, but he had gone through the years with great grades that earned him many scholarships.

Many famous literary works were written as a way to give commentary on the society in which the author lived such as Voltaire’s’ Candide and Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Geoffrey Chaucer, famous for his The Canterbury Tales, and considered instrumental in the creation of English literature, is not as well known for social commentary in his writing. However, The Canterbury Tales do indeed possess insight and analysis of society, namely the role of the authority figures in the Church. Chaucer was critical of the abuses and misuses he saw in the authority within the Church. He demonstrated his awareness of and concern over the problematic behaviors of those in authority in the Church through his writings seen in The Canterbury Tales. Through
There are many rises and falls in the story A Manual for Cleaning Women. There are emotional bursts that have readers aching for the narrator and there are variations with the sentences that correspond with how we are meant to see and know the protagonist. The diction, however, stays mostly the same. All of this makes the story seem true. This does not mean true in the non-fictional sense, but truthful in the way that this could be a real story about a real maid who is struggling with depression, loss, acceptance, and her own alcoholism. In John Gardner’s craft book The Art of Fiction, Notes on Craft for the Young Writer there is an entire chapter dedicated to truth. And really, fictional truth is tied into every chapter in the craft book because it is that important. Gardner obviously has much to say on the topic and a lot of what he says pertains to Berlin’s fine work. For example, page 91 states:
"Helga, Rhonda. My, My, what a pleasant suprise!" Ms. Heyerdahl answered the door, her accent thick. "Phoebe, didn't mention you gals was coming today."

. There are a couple of ways on how to teach your child to help others. I believe by the parents helping others the children learn to also be helpful. Being an example of a helpful person has to be effective in a positive way for the children. Also parents can talk to their child about the rewards it has on helping others. They can explain to their child about internal rewards and external rewards. In chapter twelve internal reward is define as self-satisfaction. External reward is gaining something back from you helping out. The parents should give life examples to their kids on how both rewards can be good. For example, internal reward can make you feel good about yourself also feeling like you are useful for someone. An example of external

He wanted to see her tomorrow so much so that he had to choke the words down: Nothing, I’m not doing anything. He was doing something. He couldn’t forget… what was he doing? Work. Four seconds and a zipper to forget, another four seconds and pulling it up with a usually-satisfying hum to remember. Jack was still quiet, more distracted by what he could possibly say than thinking any more about the fact he was helping her get dressed and not the other way around.
“I’m sorry, Sherry, but I don’t.” He remembered seeing a 24-hour Walmart up the highway and drove there.
