The war in Vietnam lasted 20 years from 1955 to 1975. The war was between North Vietnam, and South Vietnam. The North was communist and supported by the Soviet Union, China, and other communist countries, and the South was supported by the United States, Australia, and other anti-communist countries. Many people were against the war and there were many protest and artists protested as well. Artistic Protest Artists also found themselves involved in many of these protests. Many Artists wanted to show their feelings about the war, so they painted images of the war. Some of these images were of the brutality that was part of the war. An example of this by James Rosenquist, F-111 was 86 feet long and contained 51 panels (Pohl, 2012). In his painting
The Vietnam war, also called the Indochina War , may be said to have started in 1957 when Communist-led rebels began mounting terrorists attacks against the government of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam). The rebel forces, commonly called the Vietcong, were later aided by troops of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam). American combat personnel were formally committed to the defense of the South in 1965. An agreement calling for a ceasefire was signed in January 1973, and by March the few remaining U.S. millitary personnel in Vietnam were withdrawn. However, the war between the two Vietnamese sides persisted inconclusively for two additional years before South Vietnamese resistance
The Vietnam War was the longest war in the history of the United States it lasted from 1959-1975. Billions of dollars was spent trying to win and unwinnable war. Countless of lives were lost and America failed to achieve its objective. The origins of the war stem from the Indochina wars that occurred in the late 40s and early 50s. After many years of colonial war, the Viet Minh a communist group led by Ho Chi Minh sought independence for Vietnam. The French were not reluctant to let go of their crowning jewel without a fight. The French were aided militarily by the Unites States who sought the membership of France to the NATO and were willingly to provide as much aid to ensure that they won the war and Vietnam did not fall to communism. This led to an eight year war which culminated with the defeat of the French at the Battle of Dien Bien Phu. A cease fire was issued and peace agreements known as the Geneva Accords where drawn during the 1954 Geneva Conference. The agreement issued a temporary division of Vietnam along the 17th parallel which created a Communist North Vietnam led by Ho Chi Minh and a democratic South Vietnam led by prime minister Ngo Dinh Diem. Vietnam was supposed to unify after the nationwide election of 1956 which Diem refuse to acknowledge.
The Vietnam War was the second longest war in United States history and lasted only 5 months less than the War in Afghanistan. The Vietnam war was a conflict in southeast Asia that lasted for 19 years beginning in 1955 and ending in 1965. Vietnam was divided into two parts, North Vietnam and South Vietnam. North Vietnam was pushing communism and reuniting the country under it, while South Vietnam was very much against communism. America joined the war to help contain the spread of Communism and were scared of the “Domino Effect” happening.
The Vietnam War was fought between South and North Vietnam over the reunification of Vietnam. The North fought a more conventional warfare and it was supported by the Soviets and other communist countries while the South fought more of a guerilla war and was supported by the US and other anti-communist countries. Of course the US got involved and supported the South because of the Truman Doctrine in which aided any country who felt threatened by communism and prevented the spread of communism, the US got involved and supported them by going into war and using military tactics such as airstrikes and large stratgetic bombings. One major thing the US had going on was the Domino theory which applied to most US foreign policies, this justified their support for non-communist regimes. North Vietnam saw this war as something small while the US saw it as a way to prevent communism taking over another country and eventually the US got involved in the long run. Although the North Vietnamese won and unified Vietnam under communism, and the US had no success in preventing this, communism failed to spread through the rest of Southeast Asia.

The war was fought between the United States and South Vietnam, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand, Canada, West Germany and the United Kingdom against North Korea, China, the Soviet Union, North Korea, and Cuba. North Vietnam won the war after 20 years. The United States had five presidents throughout the war, South Vietnam had two leaders, and North Vietnam had two leaders.
The Vietnam War began in 1959. Five years earlier the country had split in two, the northern half ruled by the communist Ho Chi Minh and the southern half ruled by Ngo Ding Diem under a democratic

The Vietnam War was a period painted by immense social conflict alongside the physical conflict in Vietnam. Specifically in America, the war raised not only the problem of whether or not it was moral, but raised the question of how informed citizens were of the actions of their country. Art of all forms became a gateway for Americans to not only learn about what was happening overseas in the war, but also became a tool for them to express their own opinions toward the war. Art during the Vietnam War served to educate America and to drive protests for and against the war.
The Vietnam War was the longest and most controversial war that involved the United States and it greatly impacted the United States. Some even compare this war to that of the United States’ involvement in Afghanistan. The Vietnam War lasted from November 1, 1955 until April 30, 1975. It was a cold war that took place in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Lao. North Vietnam backed by the Soviet Union was on one side against the opposing side of South Vietnam backed by the US, Philippines, and other non-communist countries. Between 1960 and 1973, many antiwar movements in the United States arose which consisted of many people who were united in the common cause to resist the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. They strongly believed that a war in Vietnam was clearly unjust and led to the United States’ decision to eventually withdrawn its troops from the war.
A massive artistic change begins with a sense of something about this is wrong. The next step is anger against the wrong and a decision to rectify it. Later, the anger and need for change bleed into every artistic form to revolutionize culture itself. There is no better example of a counter-culture movement than America in the 1960’s, as defiance of previous social norms took place in the Civil Rights movement, the beginning of feminism, and the construction of a radical “hippie” lifestyle. Through cultural changes came rapid controversial evolution in the arts, particularly in music and fashion.
Over the extensive course of history of the United States of America, many laws, decisions and events have been developed by the government and Congress. As though it may seem many go over quite smoothly, others have faced extreme retaliation from the people and citizens as it contradicts with what they believe in. An example of these special cases is the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War was a long, costly armed conflict that pitted the communist country of North Vietnam and its southern allies, known as the Viet Cong, against South Vietnam and the United States. The extensive war was fought in the dense and humid vegetation of Vietnam, and began in 1954 after Ho Chi Minh rose to power along with his communist party in North Vietnam.
“The Vietnam war was a costly and very long conflict that eroded the communist regime of North Vietnam and its allies against the South Vietnam and its ally, us the United States of America (Unknown Source).” The Vietnam War began on the eve of 1959, causing a struggle between two of our major national forces. These two forces were attempting to unify the country the both love, Vietnam.
The Vietnam War took place in between 1947- 1975. It consisted of North Vietnam trying to make South Vietnam a communism government. The United States later joined this conflict because of the stress North Vietnam was putting to South Vietnam to become a government that America did not want. The main reason why America joined was because of a theory called the Domino Effect. America and Russia were going through what has been dubbed the Cold War. The Domino Effect is the theory that communism will spread form one country to another. United states does not want this because our
