Did you know there is about a million pounds of material in order to provide one average middle-class American family 's needs for one year? In sum, Americans waste or cause to be wasted nearly 1 million pounds of materials per, and did you know that an average person waste is 4.3 pounds per day? Did you also know that the water in the lake and river have about 3 tons?

My city would be just perfect. We would have trash day everyday. Everyone would have a job and be very happy. We would have a new system of getting rid of trash. My city would very clean and would be flourishing. Our city would be the cleanest in the world and everyone who visit it will very impressed.
The idea of getting our city to be perfect will be no easy task. We would build advanced garbage systems, and they would be the most advanced in the world. There will be no landfills anywhere to be seen in our city. Also a bonus for our city is that when you throw away garbage it won’t smell. It will smell like absolutely nothing. Now no one will have to gag or plug their noses when they throw their trash away. We would use drones to pick up our trash and bring them to our area where the trash would be put, and it would be great.
The technologies used in our city is drones. The drones do a lot of stuff for us so the city is more safe and the police have helped. They are run on solar power and wind power, have brain chips inside their heads and can only be programmed by the creator to ensure that they are not hacked into and made to do bad things. The drone can be used by the public in various ways as helping when lost and can also provide water bottles to the thirsty. We would have lots of police and
Recycling is the process of making new products from a product that has originally served its purpose. The process of recycling starts when used products are disposed in an appropriate, environmentally friendly way. Items made from materials such as paper, tin cans, aluminum cans, plastic water bottles, and glass, which people use in everyday life, can be separated from regular trash and put in an appropriate recycling bin. The United States now realizes the importance of recycling. However, many ignorant people still think separating recyclables requires too much work. Requiring mandatory recycling would prod these individuals into action. Lack of recycling leads to dramatic consequences such as polluting the environment and raising the number of landfills. Delay is critical; time plays a significant role in waste management. The sooner American communities recycle properly the better it will be for the environment and our surroundings. People need to become conscious and take responsibility as a society to protect the earth, keep it clean and beautiful, and preserve the natural resources. The United States can achieve this goal by implementing mandatory recycling.
Americans account for only five percent of the world’s population, but create half of the globe’s solid waste. Americans toss out the equivalent of $165 billion in food each year. All of that time, energy, and freshwater- for nothing. How can the United States, being so small in number, produce so much waste? Brad Plumer from the Washington Post documented a recent report from the Natural Resources Defense Council that attempts to track America’s food, from “farm to fork.” Plumer breaks the report down into seven different wasteful places along the American food production line: Farming, post-harvest and packing, processing and distribution, retail and grocery stores, food service and restaurants, households, and disposal.
From farm to table getting our food and produce to the consumer is a tricky task. Even with all the planning millions of food ends up wasted a year. Many steps are already taken to reduce the amount of food being wasted but are they enough? In America alone 200 to 250 pounds is wasted per person per year! According the world resources institute “32 percent of the world’s food was never consumed in 2009”.

Have you ever wondered where all the trash goes that you throw out? Most of it ends up in landfills, gets burned or ends up on the street. Landfills are the most cost-efficient ways to get rid of trash for places like the United States but at what price. When waste disintegrates in landfills and water passes through the waste, the resulting liquid is called leachate. When leachate run off encounter local rivers and lakes it can contaminate the water and destroy whole eco systems that live in these areas. Landfill gas consists of naturally occurring methane and carbon dioxide, which form inside the landfill as the waste decomposes. As the gases form, pressure builds up inside a landfill, forcing the gases to move. Some of the gases escape through
Environmental issues have been a part of living on earth since the beginning of time. The only issue with this however, is that resolutions have only just recently been put in place. Environmental concerns have only been discussed since the last half of the twentieth century. While some small steps were taken here and there, The European Union was the first to deliberate environmental policy in an attentive and compulsory nature. The European Union has some of the highest environmental standards to date. These standards have been evolving since the Paris Summit meeting of the European Community that took place in October 1972. The Paris Summit of 1972 was the first to introduce environmental policy on such a vast scale. One outcome of the summit was a declaration on environmental and consumer policy which gave the Environmental Commission the authority to establish the First Environmental Action Programme (EAP) to implement environmental policy. An EAP is essentially a strategic policy document which reflects the fundamental elements of contemporary environmental thinking and problem perceptions, as well as strategic policy orientation. (http://wwweeborg/publication/chapter-3pdf) It is based on a proposal from the Commission, but is now subject to a full legislative procedure leading to agreement between

We as individuals, one by one, person by person, little by little it all adds up and we all waste thousands of pounds of food every day without even realizing our wrong doings. We don’t notice it much, but the harm we are doing to the environment and our fellow roommates with whom we share this world with is immense. The U.S. alone is one of the major contributors to this problem. It so happens that the biggest offenders of this issue tend to be the wealthiest and more developed countries which of course includes the Unites States of America. The Unites States alone is responsible for wasting about 165 billion dollars’ worth of food. According to an article from sciencedaily.com that was published on Nov/24/2004 states that a study from the

The average person in the United States produces the most garbage waste which is 4.6 pounds per person. The problem with garbage waste is that it's still at a high point of 44 % produced by the rich countries, and are filling every landfill to the brim. I am all for the garbage problem and it needs to change for all the future generations to come.
Designing cities from scratch is a remarkable achievement within itself. Yet, cases around the country have ultimately failed at implementing the approach by basing the perspective of “how can they create a new city that solves problems of existing cities.” It’s less a process driven by design and more by critique. The vision for a city has changed over time. Yet three items never seem to lose contact with the development of a city and those are values, culture, and wealth. These contributing factors are what allow cities and the planet to flourish. A “good city” should show the people who live within them, and in return offer basic functions for those citizens to succeed. Therefore, constantly changing over time pave paths for new ideas and
Everyone buys things and sooner or later, we will throw it away. Or suppose we eat at Mc Donald's. After we are finished, we throw away our trash and never see or think of it ever again. In our fast passed world that we live in today, there are many people living in it and produce a lot of garbage and waste. The United States alone produces over 200 million tons of Municipal Solid Waste every year. That is equates to about 4.5 pounds of waste per person, per day. According to data from the EPA, about 35% of that is paper, 30% include yard trimmings and food scraps. Over 11% is plastic, 8% is metal, and the remainder contains wood, rubber, glass, and textiles. The main problem that we have is overflow of landfills. On top of this
My main concern about waste disposal is toward poverty. In every society, for it to work effectively the waste disposal has to be handled properly. The lack of proper waste disposal can contribute for the underdevelopment of the community. For instance, in poorer community that does not have resources to dispose of the trash properly create a series of problems. For example, when there are a lot of trashes in a community, it will prevent investors to invest in a community, the housing market, schools and stores will decline, in consequence the houses will loose its value. This will create a ripple effect because people will start immigrating toward a better place where it is much cleaner. Families will try to move to a better place where their kids can have a better future. I ask myself who wants to live in a dirty environment? I hope nobody. That’s why I believe that the government should help the poorest communities about the ways to handle waste disposal, and better educate them about recycling.
