One intriguing read turned out to be Howard De Witt’s The Watsonville Anti-Filipino Riot of 1930 for its social and racial significance. For example, many whites within Watsonville viewed Filipinos as being overly-sexual, and this caused fear among many white residents (Witt, 293). This type of mentality stereotyped many Filipinos as being possible sexual threats or rapists. I feel that many whites during this time period hated the fact that Filipinos and white people intermingled.
