Incident In A Rose Garden written by Donald Justice, states that people shouldn’t make assumptions that may be incorrect about how or when their life is going to end. For example, “Old men mistake my gestures” (ll.). This shows that the author is saying that people shouldn’t make assumptions that may be incorrect about how or when their life is going to end because a character says that people that are older mostly likely think that Death has chosen them because of their age, which sometimes might be wrong. In other words, it supports the idea that people should not always predict what will happen in their lives, because a lot of it is controlled by the nature outside. A second quote is, “Sir, I knew your father, And we were friends at the
He was meaning to show everyone that they are all equal and that every single one is the same no matter their differences. In my opinion, this true story showed determination and willpower because The White Rose was persisting in making their country better, not only for themselves but for future generations. They risked their lives not caring if they broke the law. They knew that Adolf Hitler was afraid of anyone corrupting the influence that he had over the people. In addition, I believe that he wanted to recall that even in the harshest times, people can still have hope and stand up for themselves. For instance, The White Rose changed many perspectives of others by simply publishing six leaflets which exposed Hitler’s cruel ways. He wanted to emphasize and teach others that everyone has the freedom to think for themselves. Nobody should force one another what to do or what to think because it is their choice whether or not do will or will not do

In 1989 Pete Rose, one of baseball’s greatest, lost all the respect he had gain in his successful career. That year, the league had brought to there attention that Pete Rose was a chronic gambler. Eventually Pete Rose ended up being banned from baseball. Now he wants a chance for a spot in the Hall of Fame, a place for baseball’s greatest. The question of whether or not Pete Rose should be accepted into the Hall of Fame has been a source of great controversy in the baseball community. The author, John Leland, address this controversy in his article, Hustling For the Hall, and attempts to prove that Rose deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Mr. Leland believes that because of Rose’s accomplishments,
Alan Nadel in May All Your Fences Have Gates: Essays on the Drama of August Wilson states “August Wilson’s female characters are represented as nurturers” (6-7).This is exactly how August Wilson presents Rose to his readers. A key element is that Wilson names her after a flower just as his own mother; whose name was Daisy. It is apparent that through Rose, August Wilson wants us to see his mother. He intentionally portrays her as the caring, ideal woman, and one who stands by her man no matter how difficult this may be.
Another student gave a presentation about the bravery of The White Rose resistance movement led by German college students and siblings, Hans and Sophie Scholl, who openly protested Nazism in Germany and who the Nazis executed as a result. The act of resistance struck a chord with many
I found Rose Hill Memorial Park similar to my situation with God. On Sunday, at church, the sermon was on God coming at the weirdest of times. I found the bright sun, nature, spring, awkward in comparison to an archetypical graveyard. Rose Hill Memorial Park felt as if it was the reflection of God’s awkward parental skills. Parents, when they attempt, to try to comfort you, it always happens to be in the weirdest situation that is how I, as a teenager, see God.
There are many ways in which an individual can study history, but for most reading a textbook describing events and dates does not give them a clear picture of what life was like for the people of the time. Although, textbook reading can allow an individual to know a lot of facts about historical events, which can be helpful, it lacks the ability to touch the readers emotions and allow them to relate to the people of the time. However, these emotions and comparisons can be elicited through the reading of fictional and nonfictional primary sources. Also, modern textbooks give biased historical accounts based on modern principles, which can change what certain historical events truly meant. Reading primary works of both fiction and nonfiction can help people better understand the past through many avenues.
White’s realization of reality and mortality makes him return to the present. Throughout the essay, there is a lost sense of time. When White watches his son pull up his shorts, he recognizes that he could no longer dwell in the past and relive his past in the eyes of his son. White is going through a midlife crisis. He becomes cognizant of the fact that he is no longer a child. He has been reliving his past by pretending to be his son and returning back to his childhood. He would see himself as his son and imagine the times when his dad was with him. He is now aware that his own death is inevitable as he feels the chill of the death of his youth. The cycle will continue as White’s son brings his son to the lake in the future.
In my second semester as a Sophomore I grew as a student in the area of knowledge in my World History class with Mr. Dewaele. In this class I had to write a 4-5 page thesis paper about the Treaty of Versailles. In this essay I had to come up with a thesis, research the topic, and prove that my thesis was correct. My thesis was that the War Guilt Clause was the harshest punishment that the Germans got simply because it was guilt. Before this thesis project, I had no idea what the Treaty of Versailles was or how it affected people and I just thought it was some random town in some part of the world. During the project, Mr. Dewale went through a powerpoint presentation he created about World War I. He explained what the causes of the war was and how the Treaty of Versailles was the peace agreement between the Allied Powers (France, Britain, Russia

From 1933 to 1945, Germany was under the leadership of Adolf Hitler and the Nationalist Socialist German Party, or Nazi Party. The group promoted German pride and Anti-Semitism, hate towards Jews, and expressed disgust towards the Treaty of Versailles, a peace document signed between Germany and the Allies at the end of World War 1 (History.com Staff). In order to grow his movement, Hitler recruited Germans for his armies, his factory workers, and his death camp guards. Because of this, it was easy to assume that all Germans supported the Nazi dictatorship and the ideas they preached. However, throughout this time period many Germans of different political and religious beliefs came together to protest against the regime.
My enrollment in the History course this semester was due to requirements for my bachelor’s degree in nursing. Rather than feeling that the course took valuable time away from the core curriculum, what I learned has made a lasting impact on how I feel about the world around me and who I am in that world. Those changes are going to impact the way in which I interact with my future patients and conduct myself as a healthcare professional. The format of the course facilitated a deeper understanding of social and cultural concepts and how those concepts can affect and even define a group of people or region to the rest of the world. Through the education I have received in this course, I now watch international news reports and more clearly
