The Greatness of The Great Chicago Fire The Great Chicago Fire was a fire that kept growing and eventually burned a majority of Chicago. It destroyed over 40 acres of Chicago. Over 100,000 of the people living there were left homeless and around 300 people were killed. Around 17,500 buildings perished in the fire. The fire overall burned through about 4 acres of Chicago, taking out everything and most living things in its path.
It was finally time for me to climb. I started to climb and didn’t look down. When I got to the top I realized it was a long ways down. It took me 40 seconds to climb the tower.
I was a little scared, but I got us all to do it so I just sat there silent praying we would get up there all ready. So after the almost silent elevator ride we finally got on top of the arch. My mom was the first one out and she said “dzieki bogu” which means thank God. We all started looking through these tiny windows. The view was awesome you could see all of downtown St. Louis. I said “ dad look at this isn’t this cool” and he said “ thanks for making us go up here”. After ten minutes I saw this big wave of fog from the window that looked like it was moving towards us and I said “ mama look at the fog”. By the time she walked up to the window the thick fog went around the arch and the whole arch started to shake. Everyone in the arch started screaming and the lady that worked in the arch fell on her knees and started praying to God. She started yelling “ please God please don’t let me die today”. At that point I thought to myself this arch is gonna fall and we are all gonna die. After 30 seconds the arch stopped shaking and the fog cleared up. The lady that worked there apologized for here yelling and screaming and said that ”the arch will be closing now due to heavy winds and storm

Four planes were hijacked and were headed toward an important and big building in New York City and Washington D.C. Only three out of four hit the important buildings they were heading for in New York City and Washington D.C. Now one of the biggest buildings in West New York City, the World Trade Center, is home to a huge memorial museum from the tragic day of September 11, 2001.
Berenice Gonzalez ART115 11/14/14 Building Essay Union Station America’s significant train stations are a treasure and only few of us stop to appreciate them. When we go to train stations we rush through them on our way to our destinations and we do not realize that these buildings have seen history unfold. The Chicago Union Station is listed on local, state, and national historic registers and it contributes to the growth of tourism in the city of Chicago. Train stations are very busy and often filled with tourists and locals. I as a local resident decided to go to the city of Chicago on the Metra train and travel to the Chicago Union Station and take a look around.
The Freedom Tower: Symbol of Resilience One World Trade Center took over four years to begin construction after the attacks of 9/11, and another seven to complete. One World Trade Center is now a sign of hope in a city that had a huge void in the center. Over 10,000 workers worked countless hours to build the tower (Sanburn). One World Trade Center is also very economically friendly building despite its size. After 12 years of grief and despair, One World Trade Center is finally complete and highlighting our country with its impressive, advanced design.

Guide on researching history of buildings in New York City A history of a building can be of interest to many people. This may be someone’s academic project or even a project of a company. It could also be out of personal interest, just curious to know more about a specific building; like the one they are living or working in or some other popular monument. Whatever the reason may be, it is possible to obtain detailed information regarding every aspect of a building. This can be done, but requires a lot of patience and plenty of research. There are many sources that can be used. Some of the more popular sources are books, the online data available via the Internet, a Public Library and many more like offices of public records.

When we finally got our rental car we decided to go sightseeing since we couldn’t go to our hotel till 4 p.m. We decided to go to the Willis tower. It felt like the whole town of Chicago was in that building. We had to wait for an hour and a half to be able to go to the very top of the building, and it had about 90 stories. So on the top there was even more people. There were windows all around so we could see the whole town of Chicago. We saw Lake Michigan, boats, and so many other buildings. The view was amazing.
An opaque fog obstructed visibility and it started to drizzle. Impatient people yelled and pushed from behind causing havoc for the people walking down the steps. Al carried our baby on his arm, and I held on to the railing for dear life not to be bumped by some rambunctious individual. Once we reached the tarmac more discourtesy by the very unfriendly ground personnel who shoved everyone with shouts of “move, move, I said move” toward waiting shuttle
The National Mall: A place with rich history that has served as the hub for American politics and antiquity. I wasn’t too excited on that Friday morning (not really a morning person), but I got up and was ready to embark on an endeavour full of service.
