The circle of life is present in everyday life and is the repetition that keeps the world round creating a balance. The idea of the circle of life is if a person or idea dies, another is born keeping a balance in all things. This would make a circle motion that would repeat rightly called “the circle of life”. This theme is displayed in Thomas Hardy’s His Immortality, in the song lighting crashes, and in Disney’s The Lion King. In His Immortality by Thomas Hardy, the theme of the circle of life is in the form of memories. As some memories are passed down from generation to generation, others memories can die just as easily. Live displays this theme by showing a new life coming into this world by showing a new life coming into this world by saying “The angel opens her eyes”(Live). This quote explains that a newborn was just opening her eyes for the first time. In that moment of her eyes opening, she sees light signifying life. But also while she is opening her eyes she is lost in total confusion. This would be the first part of the circle. The song completes the idea of the circle of life by showing an older life in which is dying , “The angel closes her eyes”(Live). In her final stages of her life, she closes her eyes letting darkness and death flood into her. She is closing her eyes in total confusion just like the newborn baby is doing right down the hall. Therefore, Live uses both life and death in order to describe the circle of life. Not only is the theme of the circle of life is evident in Lighting Crashes, This theme is also represented in the Lion King. In The Lion King by Disney, the theme of the circle of life is present. Disney displays this theme starting with darkness by showing the dark setting that was now the kingdom, Pride Rock, ruled by Scar. After Scar dies, the kingdom is on fire. This fire was burning away all the darkness for new life to begin once again. In addition, Disney further conveys the theme of the circle of life starting with, the death of the king, Mufasa.
