The life of Theodore Roosevelt Dillion Oster English Composition I Theodore Roosevelt was one of the most inspirational men that lived. He once stated “I have always been fond of the West African proverb: Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far.” This is how he ran things in the oval office and as the New York City police commissioner. Growing up he was a very sickly child, homeschooled and his father was very disappointed with him as a child. Theodore Roosevelt Said “Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell ‘em, ‘Certainly I can!’ Then get busy and find out how to do it.” (Theodore Roosevelt) This to me shows how dedicated Theodore Roosevelt was about his work ethics and how he strived to become the best he could.…show more content…
But out of this it made him go check out lower Manhattan where he found that there were poor living condition and high immigration with in this part. He also notice d the unsanitary conditions. From then on he realized that he cannot just fix society by making it masculine but he had to change the living conditions and fix the problems at the lowest point. With the assassination of President McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt takes over as President of the United States. Being not quite 43 yet it puts him as the youngest president in US history. He is followed by John F. Kennedy being 43. While in office he set up a lot of government agencies. He made the agencies to better the living conditions of society. His biggest was making use of the president’s ability to create national forest preserves. He also helped create the food and drug administration. He fought with congress his whole presidency and was even elected to a second term. Theodore Roosevelt was one the greatest men that had lived. He did a lot of things that most people couldn’t do in a life time. Had become the police commissioner of New York City, as well he was the president of the United States. He overcame his sick and weak body as a kid and became a man everyon could look up to. To me Theodore Roosevelt is an inspirational figure of American history and deserves to be. He has brought the United states to become what it is today. With the help of the other great men and woman that he followed and the future
