Responding to Genesis Age is a recurring theme in the Bible, especially in the Book of Genesis. Ages of characters are mentioned several times in each parable. Often, the reader disregards ages mentioned because they can be perceived as insignificant. After deep thought, I came up with a potential purpose which age could hold in scripture. Each time the age of a character is mentioned, that character is given a complex task by God, completes the task, and lives an unusually long life. This pattern is supported by the parable of Noah’s ark and could suggest that obeying God’s command can lead to a longer life.
