The theme is that family is first.
No matter what. You should always treat your family the right way and make sure that they are healthy. You never know when they might be gone or never talk to you again. I think that this is the theme because Josh's dad is sick and his brother got a girlfriend in which Josh gets upset his brother. Also I think this because most of the story, his family was included. The main conflict of this book was that the protagonist (Josh) was having problems keeping up to everything that's happening in his family and in his life. He definitely cares about basketball a lot and his feelings about his brother and his girlfriend get in the way sometimes.
Sometimes Josh gets a little jealous, but
mostly
I find the theme in this book to be something that an anyday person or child would experience in a day or much longer piece of time. Any person can experience times of confusion and emotional instability, but if that person sticks it out; they will find an answer to their problems or they will answer answer it for themselves. This pertains to a lifelong conflict, but it does not just pertain to that. It relates to a situation in a day, week, or even, an
I read the book Summer Basketball, by Mike Lupica. This book was about a thirteen year-old boy named Danny Walker. Danny is a very small kid for his age, and is asked to attend a summer basketball camp. When he first gets to the camp, things start to go bad for Danny right away. He is placed in a cabin with eleven and twelve year-old kids instead of kids his own age. While at camp, Danny met some new friends who enjoy the sport, but were also bigger than him. He begins to lose interest towards the end of the camp, and comes with a plan to fake an injury so he would get sent home and not have to play. However his best friend, Tess, has a cabin across the lake from his camp. He uses her for motivation because he doesn’t want to disappoint her.
This is a writing about a book called first part last. Which is a book that is about these two teenagers who are in a relationship. Turns out Bobby's girlfriend is pregnant and the book talks about what bobby goes threw to take care of his baby daughter named feather. What this book is also trying to say is if they are coming of age has he ?
I would choose this theme over any other countless themes since Dallas and Florida, “The Trouble Twins” of the Boxton Creek Home have been searching for a family for 13 years, only to end up depending on each other, and not letting anyone in, both emotionally and socially. Well, that was until Sairy and Tiller took them under their wing, as their own-birth children. Tiller and Sairy have made a parental bond with “The Trouble Twins” and Dallas and Florida created a daughter and son bond with “the old couple.” Along with the importance of family, Trust was also another major theme in the book. Florida and Dallas have been through so much since they passed along to different foster parents, from being locked in basements to hours of hard labor. They were never able to witness what it would be like to acquire loving parents, so they could never trust anyone, even if they really wanted
An example of a major theme in the book is family, because Melody’s mother and father as well as Mrs.V (Melody’s kind/supportive neighbor) are always supporting Melody with her disorder. When Melody was a baby, they dropped her off at Mrs. V’s house so she could babysit. At Mrs.V’s house Mrs.V teaches Melody new words, by putting stickers with words all over her board
The theme of the book is not to let your ego take over with what has to be done or become selfish because you are the best. I say this because the main character is a military commander and a father and he can't let that interfere with his family. He makes sure that he takes care about everyone and doesn't think he's the best because he has a high military background. He then gets put in charge and since he was in the army but he doesn't think he can do it. He then learns he has to and he can't let himself get in the way with what has to be done. Also you can’t be selfish because you are in charge because when you only care about yourself and not others you
basket ball, Then in second grade I started soccer and played for 3 years, then I started karate and I'm a orange belt and 2 stripes, then Now not only do I play instruments but I also play sports. When I was in first grade I played basket ball and then a new sport got introduced to our school. Its called speed stacking. You get a stack of 12 special designed cups with wholes on the bottom so they don't stick together. You can stack them in a bunch of ways like the cycle, 9 cycle, 3 cycle, 3-3, 3-3-3, 3-6-3, 1-10-1, 6-6, 3-3-3-3, and one where you lay out 12 cups and move forward with your hands while picking up the cups. There are many more ways you can stack them. It is an amazing sport, and on the cycle (The most difficult technique) I got
Personal Response: Michael Jordan was the greatest basketball player of all time. This book was great to be able to read about his life. His struggles in high school really intrigued me. I was surprised to find out that Michael was cut from the basketball team as a freshman. So many people idolized Jordan. He was a great person on and off the court.
You are sitting at home watching a tense basketball game on television. Thousands of people are screaming at the top of their lungs as a player from your home team dribbles up the court. There are only four seconds left, and the home team is down by two. The guard dishes to the center, breaking across the middle. He takes the pass, spins once, and puts up a shot. A defender appears to be draped all over him as the ball hangs in the air forever. The horn sounds, drowning out the referee's whistle. Everyone rises to their feet, their eyes following the trajectory of the spinning ball. A deafening roar explodes as the ball settles into the net. Yes! You instantly see the official has blown his whistle, and you know the player will have a chance
The theme is to always be prepared for the most unlikely situations in life. In the novel, Eadlyn Schreave starts the contest with no intent for any part of her life to change, but slowly comes to find that her whole life is changing and there is nothing she can do but embrace it.
one experience I had was when I won MVP basketball team. it was one of my giggest goals because I love basketball and I wanted to bring a trophy home. I had a lot of good players on my team, so I knew it wasn't going to be easy. The other kids on my team had many years of experience in playing basketball and it was barely my second
The theme of the story is essentially, childhood. When you read the story, you understand how important your childhood is for how the rest of your life will end up. How you experienced your life as a child, creates an important
Have you ever thought about what you would do if you had a year left to live? Well this boy Ben has to make life changing desicions. He was diagnosed with a deadly disease when he was eighteen and refused treatment. I believe that a theme in the book is family. The theme of family is reflected with Ben's relationships with his football coach, brother Cody, and friend Dallas.
The theme of this story is family sticks together to survive. The family in this story has a lot of conflict but always resolves the issue which shows strength. The protagonist in this story is Miranda her character really builds the theme. She is the narrator of the story. She and the others show empathy towards each other that is sticking together.
Within Hollywood’s movies depiction of drug addiction, many have failed to represent all true aspects that come along with such lifestyles. The movie, The Basketball Diaries, is based off a novel Jim Carroll wrote from his own diary entries. As a teenager growing up in the sixties, Carroll reveals his progression of drug abuse which eventually leads him addicted to heroin.Heroin is a white powder derived from morphine found in opium. It is commonly prescribed as a painkiller, but is also a popular street drug. The director casted Leonardo DiCaprio as Jimmy, and concentrates on creating the character as a stereotypical drug abuser. DiCaprio’s most captivating scene is when he is going through heroin
