Star-cross’d Lovers Predetermined destiny is the concept of one's life being laid out ahead of time, if this comes from an higher being or the universe, many have their own ideas of what it all means,. Yet, there is still speculation revolving around the idea of fate. In the course of Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, he uses the ideas of destiny throughout. From the moment, the young Montague and Capulet meet, the reader comes to their own thoughts and makes the conclusion that Romeo and Juliet are meant to be together, but tragedy will strike. Whether this means, they were set to meet during the Capulet party or elsewhere, there is no doubt that fate brings them together. Throughout the actions in Romeo and Juliet, the reader is oftentimes being reminded of what is to come, with the aspects of fate and destiny being hinted at. Today, the ideas of Shakespeare's works continue to receive analysis, one of the main themes seen in numerous pieces of his work is the ideas of astrology and the stars playing a role on one's life. Romeo and Juliet’s story represents a tragic tale of love and destiny, as these two characters fall madly in love but are unable to continue their relationship due to their families conflict, which ultimately leads to tragedy. The chorus sings, “A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life, / Whose misadventured piteous overthrows / Doth with their death bury their parents strife” (Prologue.6-8).
