Religion has never been involved with any of the world’s most tragic history. However, conflicts in beliefs and opposing arguments regarding religion have caused such destructive responses that it can be seen in any mass death the world’s population has ever seen. Combat and conflicts in a religion, whether it be internal or external with other religions, will never fade and will keep persisting on until humanity finds a way of compromise. In The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller, there are many characters who, unsurprisingly, have many different interpretations of the Puritan Christian rules and following. This, unsurprisingly, results in: accusations, death, and many relationships being destroyed. There is a different form of Christianity in each major character that combats each other’s personal definition. Most of the forms include: using Christianity as an excuse to take out people the character may have slights against, a way to obtain and flaunt more money, or a way to sin and be quickly forgiven. Abigail Williams’ version of Christianity is one that she uses against others. She is the driving force in the play: with an attempted murder, adultery, and being accused of witchcraft; there is a good chance when something is wrong it has to do with Abigail. She lies and leads on Proctor to the point where, even though he is married, he begins to lust after her. He says to Danforth and Francis: “She thinks to dance with me on my wife's grave!
