He could of stayed home and been rattled. It is most likely hard going to school with no friends. Auggie did it, he was strong and held his head high. Auggie’s school went on a field trip to a camp, Jack Will and Auggie adventured into the woods, bullies followed them and pushed Jack Will to the ground. Auggie stood up for his friend and himself. He was ready to fight the bullies. He was brave. Auggie could have run away or let the
These examples remind us how important it is to keep a clear head in difficult situations. Moreover, maintaining a positive mindset can make a big difference when facing tough times. In "Unbroken," Louie demonstrated that if they were persistent and resourceful, they could catch food to survive. For instance, the book mentions, "Louie had demonstrated that if they were persistent and resourceful, they could catch food" (Hillenbrand 113). Similarly, the Thai cave boys and their coach stayed healthy, both physically and mentally, during their nine-day wait in the dark.
One example of Julian bullying Auggie is when he kept putting mean notes in Auggie’s locker. I know that Julian is a bully because if he wasn’t a bully he might have actually been friends with Auggie. Another example of Julian bullying Auggie is when he was calling him names like a “freak” and he also started “the plague” just to be mean to Auggie. I know that Julian is a bully because he would not have started the plague or kept calling him a freak. This proves that Julian is a bully.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go to a new school with no friends and a different face? To have everyone look at you and make a repelling face? That’s what it was like for August Pullman in the 5th grade. Auggie is different that everybody else in 5th grade. Auggie was born with a facial deformity so he looks different that other people he has had 27 so far in his life. Auggie goes to a school called Beecher Prep. In my opinion Beecher Prep has had a positive effect on Auggie’s life because now he has made more friends like Summer, Jack Will, Max G, Max W, and Reid. Sometimes it is hard for auggie to fit in when people like julian step into the picture, but overall Beecher Prep has made Auggie’s life a little easier.
Jack turns down being a popular kid at school to be friends with August. Jack was not embarrassed to be around August even though most kids were. He also stood up for August as is shown when it says “‘We could have been partners. You don't have to be friends with that freak if you don't want to be, you know….’ And that's when I punched him.
Monday morning came around, and he had a decision to make. Would he back down from this bully, or would he be courageous enough to withstand the bully? O’Brien showed up to school and fought the bully. It ended up being a draw. O’Brien mentions that, “ Honor was clearly at stake,”(O’Brien 135).

Auggie goes to the middle school,Beecher Prep and it is in walking distance of his home. But Via's school on the other hand, is “ a bit of a schlep. The A train down 86th, then the crosstown bus all the way to the Eastside. Takes an hour But it's just a 15 min drive”(pg. 32).
I think that Auggie’s experience at Beecher Prep was a good one for him to get a taste of the real world. The reason I think this is because he made good friends like Summer & Jack and to a lesser extent Reid. Also, he made good relationships with his teachers and Principal. Also another example is how more towards the end of the the story Amos and Henry stand up for him when 7th graders mess with them.
The author portrays the message and theme of persistence, resilience, and grit throughout the entire story. We understand
An example of this is “Look,” I said, Stepping in front of Jack and holding my hands up in the air like a traffic cop. “We’re a lot smaller than you guys…” This shows us that even though the teacher then stops the boys from hurting Auggie, Auggie still had the courage to step up to the bullies and say something
One of the themes in A Lesson Before Dying is innocence. Gaines is saying that in some situations, (and more often than we think.) People who are innocent are still jailed, this can be due to any number of factors. “The fact that Mr. Grope shot only Brother and Bear was proof of Jefferson’s innocence. Why did Mr. Grope shoot one boy twice and never shoot at Jefferson once?” (Gaines 7) In addition to Jefferson’s innocence, we also see Grants thoughts as well. He believes he is innocent in the matter, and that he should have nothing to do with Jefferson or his god mother. “Yes, I’m the teacher,” I said, “And I teach what the white folks around here tell me to teach – reading, writing, and ‘rithmetic. They never told me how to keep a black boy

He knew what he had to do, and after all, listening to his parents was important. They told him it was what had to be done, to get revenge on those who hurt them the most, which was more than enough to convince him to commit these crimes. He decided to go when it got darker, so he would have less of a chance of being noticed.
Some may argue that Auggie’s experience had a negative impact because of the bullies, but in the end he had everyone on his side. Plus with the conditions there will always be people who give you those long stares, or those people who do that look then look away
injuries when doing so he was probably still bullied and also he was probably punched a lot. For instance, he you were bullied and you became a teen activist you’d probably get picked on more another thing though is many people who get bullied commit suicide because of the pressure. In conclusion a lot of teen activist need to also think about their safety and that they have to make a lot of
