Causes of the Korean War

In referring to the Korean War there are quite a few theories on what created the ‘perfect storm’ which led to a war that there still currently isn’t a peace treaty to. These theories will be discussed as possible reasons to the cause of the Korean War. The dividing of the 38th parallel, The Occupation of the Soviet Union and the United States in different spheres of Korea, The Domino theory in relation to Korea, North Korea attacking South Korea with the Truman Doctrine in regards, North Korea’s beliefs on the cause of the war, and the Superiority Complex of the USSR and the United States. In August 1945 Japan surrendered to the United States, because Japan was in control of Korea the Russians quickly invaded the North in order to try and take over Korea as a whole. With the exception of Kim Il Sung and USSR leaders, the North Korean people believe to this day that the war was fought due to aggression displayed by South Korea and the United States. “Even the veterans who took part in the Korean War talk about the bloodshed from the war that America started. It is only natural that their children share the same belief as their parents about the war. Apparently, all the soldiers who fought in the war had no doubt in their minds that the war was started because the joint army of the U.S. and South Korea attacked North Korea. It looks like Kim Il Sung did a very good job in sealing the truth of the Korean War in complete darkness”(Yoon). This would would make sense to North Koreans because afterall Korea had just been liberated from the control of Japan, so why would anyone want to go to war again after the tyranny had just been
