Theory of Aging
Our youthful- oriented society has given the aging an impression of being in an unpleasant phase of life. Although work retirement is celebrated for freedom to travel and pursue a hobby, many people realize that those extra times serve to make them look into the reality of aging closely. As a matter of fact, physical limitations, discovery of diseases, role confusion, and boredom are some of the experiences retired people reported (L. Saprid, personal communication, March 12, 2017). With personal faith, enhanced mind-set, and careful planning, I believe a healthy outlook and process of aging can be achieved.

With a personal belief on purposeful living, I can focus on those areas that matter in life and please my God – service to my families, loved ones, and others. To me, it is a daily discipline of the mind and spirit. In a way, having an enhanced mind releases me from the tendencies to pursue power, money, and material gains that often lead to stressful living.
Finally, a careful planning for aging can assist a person to view aging positively. The planning process starts with taking care of my physical health – healthy habits on eating, sleeping, and exercise. Moreover, financial planning is also important to save for future financial needs to avoid being a burden to my children. This can include having a retirement savings, life insurance, and a living will. Furthermore, to be realistic, simplifying the home structure for safety and easy maintenance can also be considered.
The prevalence of ageism can affect the aging people negatively. However, a person’s faith, enhanced mind, and shrewd planning can prepare a person to age gracefully and accept the aging process
