There is a 4% expected growth photography careers, which is slower than the average occupation. The job growth for an occupational therapist is 29% by 2022, faster than the average. Childcare worker growth is expected to be 14% by 2022, about as fast as the average (United States Department of Labor, 2014).

The medical field will always continue to grow and so will the demand for those types of careers. According to AOL Jobs, a highly researched source for advice on careers, “Driven primarily by aging baby boomers and technology advances that improve survival rates for trauma victims and children with birth defects, the demand for physical therapy is forecast to continue to grow” (Schepp). AOL Jobs also listed physical therapy as the third most secure career choice. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “the demand for physical therapists is expected to spike upward by an astonishing 30% between 2008 and 2018—a much quicker rate than average… there are approximately 185,500 licensed physical therapists in the United States, and that number is expected to jump to 241,700 over the next 10 years” (qtd. I am planning to graduate with my bachelors in Therapeutic Recreation. I will then take that degree to enter the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program. I have chosen this occupation because it makes me happy to assist the people who want to get back in the routine in life. My patients age from 3 years old all the way to 100. I love being active, and it requires plenty of energy. My patients may have delayed development or may have traumatic brain damage. Patience is an important skill to have. I will have to get my hands dirty sometimes, but not all jobs are clean. My mother is a special education teacher in a PIP class. It is truly rewarding to me to help her kids with eating breakfast, and to simple as assisting with writing their name.

Being a business major it would only make sense to inquire into a career related to business. In order to narrow down the options, I used the results from my STRONG survey. It is an assessment of an individual’s personality and interests and works to match them to potential career fields and specific occupations. I felt that the results for my survey were very accurate and resembled what I know to be true about myself. Among the top areas of interest selected for me were Mathematics and Politics. With the survey providing a list of careers, I decided to select one that I was unsure about. I selected the career choice of arbitrator/mediator. Starting out, I know what they do, but I am unsure of the details of the occupation.
-My client clearly had difficulty functioning on their own, and were in denial about their disorder. They tended to avoid questions, and make excuses for questions they didn't have an explanation for. They were very unresponsive and when I tried to get them to open up they got angry and recoiled, probably because they were scared to talk about their problems.
