Theta Tau Chapter Analysis

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of my interest in becoming a member of the Nu Zeta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. My desire to have the opportunity to become a brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity incorporated is grounded on encounters, characteristics and the prestige purpose and history of the fraternity.

Delta Zeta Iota was brought to the University of Iowa in 1912. In 1999, Delta Zeta left Campus and recolonized in 2001. Since the recolonization, our chapter has been able to complete some massive accomplishments, considering that the Greek Community here at Iowa is different than many other universities. We have consistently been one of the smallest PHC chapters on campus over the last 15 years. In 2014, my class was the largest Delta Zeta had bid. In 2015, Delta Zeta gave out the most bids for fall formal recruitment. That was supposed to be the turning point; we were just as big as everyone else and we needed to rise to the occasion.

The novel, Station Eleven, written by Emily St. John Mandel, has an abundance of examples of speaking about the past. Many characters in this book talk about experiences with their past, whether it be memorable or something they did not want to remember. Everyone has their own opinions on whether or not they should remember the past, and if they should continue to study it or not. Three characters that are involved with the past in the novel are Clark Thompson, Jeevan Chaudhary, and Kirsten Raymonde.

The first value that the resolute men of Theta Chi Fraternity pride themselves on is by the value of True Friendship and Brotherhood. Brotherhood is “having somebody that will not let you fail” (UC Theta Chi Rush Fall 2016). It “is having someone to talk to, someone to go to. Having people around to motivate you and push you to be better” (UC Theta Chi Rush Fall 2016). Brotherhood is defined by “a group of guys, that come from different areas and different backgrounds. And we mold it all together into one cohesive group” (UC Theta Chi Rush Fall 2016). Friendship and Brotherhood are key values in Theta Chi fraternity because it allows there to be a special relationship between the members of the fraternity. When some men come to college they

I believe the thesis for Chapter 5, “The Audience,” of On Writing Well is “you are writing primarily to please yourself, and if you go about it with enjoyment you will also entertain the readers who are worth writing for (Zinsser 39).” According to the Bulldog Writing Center’s criteria, I believe this is a level 3 thesis sentence, because it has facts, examples, and a preview of analysis. The expected lesson from reading the essay is revealed, which is writers write for their own enjoyment.

In this book, Ortberg discusses how important relationships with other people are. In chapter 16, he states, “God uses people to form people. That is why what happens between you and another person is never merely human-to-human interaction¬—the Spirit longs to be powerfully at work in every encounter.”182 What is so powerful about this, is how much it relates to a Trinitarian view on teamwork.
