Going into hiding is something most average citizens do not think of ever doing anytime soon. Also, if you asked most of those citizens they wouldn’t know what to say if you asked them what they would do while they were hiding. There are not many things someone could do while in hiding, if something was come up with to do it would have to involve no noise or attention. However, there are many things you could learn or do that do follow those guidelines. There are not as many things to do in hiding as out of course but, there are still some things to do. First, someone could start a journal just as Anne Frank did while she was in hiding during the Jewish Holocaust. They could also learn to sketch and draw, something that can take time to perfect but, if someone was in hiding they would have quite a bit of time on their hands. Also, they could write stories to show their family. Lastly, they could read if any books are available to them at that time they could read them each maybe a couple of times to really grasp the meaning of it. There are also things someone could learn during this time or teach themselves. Such as, teaching themselves how to braid or do their families hair is something they could learn. They could also come up with a code to use between family members, whether that be hand signals or words. …show more content…
However, no one is going to do that, instead here are some things that would taken from someone if they went into hiding. Socializing with friends would be stripped away from someone because no one can know where they are even friends they trust. Playing outside or in some cases even looking outside is forbidden, someone can’t risk being seen by anyone. Also, giving up hobbies that some people absolutely love to do would be very hard to do. These are two of many upon many things that someone could not do if they were in
The Hiding Place a story written with love and hope to share throughout the world was written by Corrie Ten Boom who was not a Jew. Corrie with the help of Betsie, her sister, and family helped hide Jews during the Holocaust. Corrie felt that she should help God’s people no matter who they were. Though Corrie felt she could never love these people like her sister she tried everything possible. “One thing in the shop I never learned to do as well as Betsie, and that was to care about each person who stepped through the door. Often when a customer entered I would slip out the rear door and up to Betsie in the kitchen. Betsie! Who is the woman with the Alpina lapel- watch on a blue velvet band-stout, around fifty?” (Corrie 54) Even though Corrie could never find a way to care for each person the way Betsie did she still managed to help every person who walk through the door. Soon the German police came to realize what her and her family was doing and arrested Corrie and her family. While in prison at first Corrie had felt God had abandoned them but it was her sister who made her realize that God never left them and his love never left them this was a trial to see how much they loved and truly cared about God. Out in the cold one day they undressed and are naked walking by guards who are laughing and staring at them both Corrie and Betsie so humiliated
While in hiding, Anne Frank was closed off from the world as she was not allowed to leave the “Secret Annex”. To pass time Anne would read books and wrote in an autograph book she received for her 13th birthday, the book in which she used as a diary described her life in hiding, her various thoughts, and relationships with the members of the Secret Annex in which Anne was hiding in. Before going into hiding, Otto Frank had notified a few of his most trusted workers where they would be hiding. The workers would shortly visit the annex to tend the Franks with necessities such as food and gave news of the war. Although life was hard, their survival from Hitler’s regime seemed promising until in a sudden sad turn of events, one of Otto’s workers

Hidden Like Anne Frank by Marcel Prins and Peter Steenhuis is a 14 story book about lots of children and families going into hiding during WW2 to try and survive. They moved from town to town and from city to city changing their identity and by passing their families. Some children had to leave at the age of three. They all have to hide in walls, under floors, and even in attics. Hiding from the Germans and the Nazis is a hard task, but most survive. All trying to avoid one thing when turning seven, the yellow star.
Many of these secret homes were on busy streets that Nazis patrolled frequently. Anne Frank’s family was one of these Jews and took up residence in the hidden rooms above her father’s former office. As the end of the war neared, Nazi soldiers began to get worried and cared less about apprehending Jews than they did about killing the ones they already had taken as prisoner.
themselves from childhood to prove their honesty to the other nations around. They learned to hide
The Hiding Place is the emotional and inspirational true life story of an ideal Christian woman who sacrifices her life to help others. Corrie has grown up in a very religious home, and when embroiled in a difficult and dangerous situation her family risks everything to help others. During the Holocaust, the living conditions for the Jewish population were horrifying and unthought of. The lack of sanitary facilities meant they had to remove dirt and pests from clothing by waiting in a line that took up most of the day. The barracks that the prisoners slept in was in terrible conditions and the rooms were damp with leaky roofs (“Auschwitz…”). The health and how the jewish lived was no concern of the Nazi soldiers.
By hiding and protecting the Jews from the Germans, the tenBooms were showing God’s love to those who needed it. They demonstrated that even in the darkest of times the good Lord provides for us. When Connie and Betsy were sent to the concentration camps for hiding the Jews, they were able to preach the gospel to the women there and give them hope for the future. Who knows how many lives they saved because the hid the jews.
Over six million people died in the Holocaust. Family, friends, and other people with the same ethnicity that they didn't even know were killed left and right. From the crematory to getting hung. Was it best for them to help each other or was it to protect themselves and not care about anyone else? (Prompt 5)
Many people go into hiding, not even out of force – purely out of fear. Most people refuse to show their face.

The Holocaust is a very large topic with many subtopics within, which many people have never heard of. One in particular is the Hidden Children of the Holocaust. Like a majority of individuals, I never heard of this topic before, until I started my inquiry work. Hiding children during the holocaust was an effort to save thousands of children’s lives. The children were hidden in different ways, either with false identities, underground, and with or without their parents. The children with false identities were allowed to participate in everyday life activities, like attend school and socialize with children their age, which in the long run this lead to less emotional and mental issues. However, the children that were hidden and not allowed to leave their hiding spots often faced boredom, pain, and torment. Some children were capable of being hid with their parents while other children were not. Depending on the situation the child was in, depends on the effects it had on the child during this time. In this paper, I will be discussing works by two scholars, Natalia Aleksiun’s Gender and Daily Lives of Jews in Hiding in Eastern Galicia and Judy Mitchell’s Children of the Holocaust. Aleksiun’s article talks about the daily lives of Jews in hiding and also about how they prepared their hideouts. Aleksiun’s article mainly focuses on children that were hidden with their families. In Mitchell’s article, he focuses on the hidden children and gives examples/survivor stories on what it
