3rd Listening Session – Focus on the form: 15 points
Is there an introduction to the main melody? Before the main melody begins with Clifford Brown and Jimmy Heath, there is a short four second long introduction in the very beginning of the song, which is played entirely by the piano player John Lewis.
How many measures is “the head” (the main written melody)? Merely based on my listening, the “head”/main written melody is sixteen measures long and is played once in the beginning and once with a slight variation in the end. The slight variation is a “mini” solo for the drummer Kenny Clarke where he plays alone for a very short period of time.
Can you discern the form?
Solely based upon my
The first song that the band played was very soft and relaxing. The string bass was the lead of the first song and played a flat four rhythm, and the rest of the band
This would happen before every song was played. The name of the song would be introduced and in some introductions, small comments were made. The first song was The Business of America is Business. This song followed the introduction, melody, a solo section, a presentation of the melody and then an ending structure. The solo in this song was performed by Irabagon using his saxophone.
The music throughout the performance is by The Rolling Stones. The first song, “Little Red Rooster” is very laid back and lazy sounding. It has a slow but consistent tempo throughout the song. The second song, “Lady Jane” has a very slow tempo. This is possibly because it contains lots partner work. The third song, “Not Fade Away” is significantly faster than the previous songs. There is also lots of clapping in time with the music which gives it a kind of celebratory feel. The fourth song, “As Tears Go By” once again has a slow tempo. It has a very relaxed feel at the same time as being sad. This assists in developing the choreographers’ intent because in this section the female dancer is being rejected. The fifth song, “Paint it Black” is where the first costume change takes
The first play was performed by the combined choirs which called “You are the new Day” composed by John David. The shorter version of the same song was played at the end of the concert. The shorter version of the song was as the
Over the years, musicians have allowed their music to be used in advertisements for various businesses. However, doesn’t the artist’s creativity in their music fade away after it has been used in various commercials? Most importantly, advertisements may change the lyrics to a song to relate to the product, so the business would benefit more and take the focus away from what really matters, the music.

The harp plays ascending scales whilst the oboe plays a minor legato melody. The bass strings play pizzicato then the rest of the string section play tremolando and Crescendo. The brass repeats the melody, accompanied by the orchestra and a string tremolando inverted pedal. A string melody follows, accompanied by pizzicato strings and brass. There is a series of suspensions in the brass with perfect cadences, then an anticlimax with descending strings and brass. The main melody is repeated again, syncopated, in augmentation then there is a diminuendo as melody strings then French horn play melody.
The piano accompaniment also assists in expressing the poem’s imagery. Most of this Lied is quarter notes in the voice with eighth notes in
six minutes in length and a couple songs were a little over ten minutes. The
The next song, “Oopsey Daisey My Sweetheart” was the piece that Dr. Carol Williams wrote. I liked the melodies and harmonies overall. It was very interesting music piece. I wish I could get a contact with her and wanted to ask a few questions about this piece of music. Also the singer, Martha Jane Weaver, sang this song great that both the singer, write of the music, and the player received a great attention from the audiences.
There is a minor brass introduction followed by ascending and descending major scales played by the harp. The strings play a legato melody and there is a pedal note in the woodwind. The music modulates back to minor and there is a crescendo with a sequence and use of the timpani. There is a descending arpeggio played by the brass section, and then the string melody is repeated with brass repeated notes. The music has a ¾ rhythm and an adagio tempo. There is a quiet woodwind passage with a timpani roll and crescendo. The main melody is then played by brass. It is then repeated with cymbal crashes, brass fanfares and a timpani roll. There is a crescendo with discords and imperfect cadences. And the piece ends with a perfect cadence and timpani roll.
The second stanza discusses the player’s hair and shows how it was right for the time.
Don 't get me started on the death penalty. I for one am against capital punishment, I think it is barbaric and cruel however I can understand why some may agree with the death penalty. Punishment by death. The sentence that someone be punished in this manner is a death sentence. The death penalty was first introduced in the eighteenth century B.C. Under the code of the death penalty twenty-five crimes were punishable by death.
As a manager the strategy, and business model generated can have a direct impact on a firms performance. If your strategy doesn’t have any notion of how it plans to generate a competitive advantage or your business model doesn’tt portray how you’re going to create value for the consumer, it will have a negative impact on your firm, This will cause your firm loose in terms of the competition within the industry, and generate a competitive disadvanatage, which is underperformance relative to other competitiors in the same industry or industry average(Rothaermel, F.).
In this class, I’m learning quite a bit about listening. I’m learning how to listen and communicate better with people, especially when the things I’m listening to and talking about are more on the sensitive side of topics. I’ve always been a very closed off person, even from friends and family. I️ would have a hard time expressing my thoughts and emotions verbally and would get upset with people when they would try to pry. Friends and family would get angry with me when I️ wouldn’t talk or wouldn’t listen to them when all they were really doing was trying to help me. Very frequently when out in public it’s easy to observe this same kind of people or behavior. There are many more people out in the world with poor listening and communicating skills than you may think. For instance, those who get flustered when discussing certain topics whether it’s at the store or a coffee shop. If you like people watching, then you know what I’m talking about.
