Community Beat Story: Thomas and Mack Center Thomas and Mack Center is going through a $72.5 million modernization, which includes a balcony with a strip view. The Thomas and Mack Center (TMC) is 30 years old and is home to the UNLV Runnin Rebels, other UNLV Athletics Programs, and outside events such as the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) and Professional Bull Riders (PBR). The TMC arena holds 150 events annually and brings 850,000 visitors. The TMC also holds concerts, graduations, the NBA Summer League and next October will host the final presidential debate. The plans for the Thomas and Mack Center have included accessibility, code, fire/safety, mechanical, electrical, sound system, access, restroom, roofing, seating, locker room upgrades …show more content…
“The issue we have had is the soil conditions were a lot worse than we anticipated. We could have finished faster if we had shut the whole place down for construction, but we cannot do that with certain events we have such as the Rodeo,” said Bomotti. “85 percent done with phase 1 in the TMC and everything should be finished by the end of March 2016,” said Michael Newcomb, executive director of the Thomas and Mack Center. “The main issue we had was to finish the additions by the time of the presidential debate in 2016 and we will be ready by then,” said Bomotti. Phase one of bringing everything up to code included more bathrooms and accessibility, but also the loss of seats in the TMC. The NFR, which is one the arenas biggest events will lose about 200 seats and ticket revenue. “The loss of seats was the most painful. It affects basketball because people who have sat in seats for years have had to move and the loss of NFR seats” said Newcomb. The loss of seats is not necessarily a loss since it will give more room to accommodate people in wheelchairs. Besides more seat availability there will be two new elevators one that goes all the way up to the upper deck, which there has never been elevator access to. “It will be much nicer to accommodate fans,” said …show more content…
“People will clearly notice the improvements. I think the new arena will intrigue a lot of people. We have more space, two concourses and more suites,” said Bomotti. “The Thomas & Mack Center has been a wonderful home for many Las Vegas event, however, it know around the world as home of the UNLV Runnin Rebels. Having this great building refurbishes will assist us as our Rebels continue to make our mark as a top basketball in the country and these improvements only enhance our fan experience who have been accustomed to a great rebel experience,” said Tina Kunzer-Murphy UNLV Director of Athletics. Another addition to the TMC will be the observation deck on the northwest side of the arena directly under the player entrance tunnel. The deck will be used for various and includes a glass view of the strip. “Were thinking of events such as the Fourth of July, New Years Eve for firework views and even talk about letting students up there such as the first game of every season. I’m really excited about students to get in there,” said
Although, Louisville’s brand had become attractive, the conference they had joined was losing its appeal, due to conference realignments. The Big East lost the majority of its superb teams instantaneously. The major hit came to the Big East conference when what I consider the Big Seven in college basketball Georgetown, De Paul, Marquette, Providence, St. John’s, Seton Hall and Villanova left together, which became a major split in the conference in 2012 effective in 2013. Mark Lauber, a Wharton School of Business graduate, founded Branchburg Sports Complex (BSC) in 2008 after selling his and his father’s previous venture to another company. As a lover of sports and family entertainment destinations such as Disney Land, Mark envisioned bringing the “wow-factor” that these world renowned destinations possess to the realm of sports centers. BSC is a 78,000 square foot facility consisting of four indoor turf fields, basketball courts, training center, multi-level PlayMaze, arcade with redemption center, batting cages, and a three-floor 9,000 square foot interactive fantasy-themed laser tag arena. Advertising “fun and excitement for the whole family,” Mark truly provides activities for all demographics. He

Sports Authority Field at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos professional football team. A stadium filled full with 76,125 loud and dedicated fans. The atmosphere is intense when the stadium opens for the football game. The away team always goes on the field first. The stadium erupts in boos and a various amount of cuss words, some that I have never even heard before. The creativity of the fans is almost like an R- rated Shakespeare is inside them. The staff sets up an inflatable horse with smoke coming out the sides and fireworks bursting in the air above it. The Broncos come to the field and the noise from the cheering and yelling is almost enough to make you go deaf. It sends chills down your spine
Newly Renovated Arena: updated game clock/ score board; hundreds of televisions added for better spectator views
The Yankees plan on opening a Metro-North train stop right at the stadium so that fans from neighboring states can easily arrive and depart the game without dealing with the subway or the street traffic, which takes away from the hustle and bustle of the pregame street activities. This includes souvenir shops, food vendors etc. And finally, the most un-baseball related aspect of the new stadium on the list is the fact that Yankee Stadium will be open year round with clubs, restaurants, banquet rooms, conference rooms and business centers, and will host corporate outings, business meetings, bat mitzvahs, seminars and weddings (M.L.B. We issued 12,000 passes, and around 2,000 people took advantage of the free offer per game. You can agree with me that filling up seats is a good thing, correct? Even if that means giving away tickets for free, it leads to more parking revenue, sales of concessions, and a greater overall atmosphere inside the stadium.
Leisure travelers overall will be made better off by the new fare structure. These travelers have more flexibility and can take advantage of the advance purchase discounts and Saturday-night stay discounts. An exception to this is leisure travelers who had found “loop holes” in the old fare system by using “creative ticketing” and waiting for deep discounts. These leisure travelers may pay higher rates because the deep discounts will no longer be offered.
The manner in which the service counters have been positioned on one side of the venue has given the club more control over the club regarding guests and congestion within the club by creating a free flowing walkway between the service areas and tables allowing guests to easily walk in and out with out causing major congestion. Signage stating the exits within the club also ensures that guests are aware of their surroundings.
The part of the Grandstand that we are going to now is the main building. It consists of two floors of merchants selling all sorts of things, from pianos to software to golf clubs to the latest cooking gizmos. A friend of ours works at the Nadachair booth. He is my sister’s friend’s teacher. We usually visit him every year. A Nadachair is basically a cushion for your back with a strap around your waist for extra support. The East Room is just a separate room with more of the same stuff. I usually don’t go there because it is uncomfortably hot in there. The main building and the East Room are under the bleachers.
