Thomas Hobbes has theorized that a human being’s true state of nature is war, and, by extension, fear. According to Hobbes’ beliefs – and the U.S. Constitution, all men are created equal in their strengths, weaknesses, and intelligence: “…the nature of power is increasing as it proceeds; or like the motion of heavy bodies, which, the further they go, make still the more haste” (Hobbes 1660, 6).
