Thomas Morton Native Americans

Satisfactory Essays

Thomas Morton states that Indians a “freer life” than Europeans because he means that the Indians really have a very simple life that they are satisfied with things what they have from nature and their works. They can build a house with materials in the woods, or find out food sources in the nature by themselves. The Indians are “guided by light of nature”, so their life is not encumbered due to temptation of money or material things. While Europeans chase materialistic life, the Indians live for their community, and they only get and keep things that they think is sufficient and necessary to maintain their community life. I empathize that Morton hoped the Native Americans would have happier life if “were they once brought to Christianity”.
