In the story “Child By Tiger” the author, Thomas Wolfe shows many examples of how a human would react to tragic situations. A central idea of this story is how the events that occurred in the narrator’s childhood were strong enough to change his views and leave a strong imprint on his adult life. One reaction was the boys’ reaction to finding Dick Prosser’s gun in his room. The narrator then tells how the boys reacted individually to the news of Dicks rampage. The final reaction shown in the story was the boys’ going back into Dick’s room. All of these reactions show the human nature of traumatic situations and the lasting effects on the boys’ lives.
