Thousands of women get pregnant each day, some are estaticed while others are not so much. Once a woman finds out she is pregnant it is up to her to decide if she wants to let the pregnancy continue or to terminate it. According to the Planned Parenthood website, “Abortions are very common. In fact, three out of ten women in the US have an abortion by the time they are forty- five years old.” While this is true, critics insist that some women do not know enough about abortions. According to them, it is important that a pregnant woman knows her different options. These options including continuing or terminating her pregnancy, sometimes the cost is the deciding factor.

According to the National Abortion Federation website, the cost of abortions range from three hundred and fifty dollars to well over one thousand dollars as the pregnancy continues. While the price goes up as pregnancy continues, a woman can only get an abortion up to the twenty-fourth week of pregnancy based on state laws.
Throughout the United States of America different states have different laws on abortion. In some states a woman can receive an abortion up to being twenty-four weeks pregnant, while in other states she may only be able to receive an abortion up to being twenty weeks pregnant. Before states had the right to decide on their own laws pertaining to abortion, the federal government made abortions illegal. During the time that abortions were illegal in the US there was a huge push to legalize it. The people who pushed for abortions to be legal were worried about illegal abortions. Before 1973 and the court case of Roe versus Wade, abortions were illegal. Due to that fact, women were doing in-home abortions or going to someone, who was not qualified to do so, to get an abortion. These were very unsafe practices.
