For almost two years, we have been in search of what we believed were time capsules, hidden away between the years of 1400, when the Renaissance period started, and 1750 which marks the end of the Baroque period. We are pleased to announce that our nearly twenty-four year search has ended in the discovery of two such capsules. Each of these capsules contains information, vital to the understanding of past cultures and their origins, and necessary to the development of culture today. In what we 're now referring to as "Cap A", we have discovered two very well known pieces of Art. One, now referred to as the world’s most famous smile, is the Mona Lisa. Leonardo Da Vinci created this masterpiece in 1503 using a style known as …show more content…
He also composed and left for us, Missa Prolatium”.
There was a second capsule discovered which we’ll call Capsule B. In this capsule are reminders for us of life during the Baroque Period. John Locke, who was born in 1632 and died at the age of 73, left for us his most famous works. The Essay Concerning Human Understanding tries to answer the questions where ideas come from and are our senses reliable. Another very famous, more reliable philosopher, Baruch Spinoza left behind his works in which he discredited the scriptures because he said they were all influenced by the period in which they were written. He claimed that Jesus preached a religion of reason that valued love higher that all else. He was later excommunicated.
It seems, one week after his death, Peter Paul Rubens home was inventoried and there were thousands of works found inside. The Adoration of the Magi, and Sampson and Delilah were found among the collection of work. Renaissance literature that will forever be etched in our minds was discovered in this capsule. One of the greatest influences of our time left evidence of his existence. William Shakespeare deposited two of his most famous works into this capsule. Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet were these two literary masterpieces. Although Shakespeare never published any of his work, he did feel it important to leave these two plays in this capsule.

Da Vinci’ s the “Mona Lisa”(c.1519) holds Miss. Zirpolo’s statement to be true. When viewing the piece, one can see the exquisite line work and Foreshortening, to linear perspective. This art form shows his attention to detail and his passion for his work. The “Mona Lisa” (c.1519) is a small piece of artwork that became very popular. To this day the “Mona Lisa”(c.1519) still triumphs over Michelangelo’s “Creation Of Adam” (c.1511), which became a part of the “Sistine Chapel.”(C.1512) When one views “The Mona Lisa” they can see the dark color scale that is used, perhaps to depict an unhappy time. Da Vinci through out this piece is able to use an aerial perspective within the background of this portrait. Da Vinci was the first
The Mona Lisa is an amazing and famous painting done by Leonardo da Vinci, an Italian Renaissance artist. I have always had a passion for art and really enjoy diving into a piece and finding its meaning and purpose. That is why I am interested in this artifact and getting to know this famous and stunning piece better. This painting does not have a primarily functional or practical purpose, but it does embody the creative expression of ideas.
For about two weeks in the beginning of the second semester, I had no clue what to create my time capsule about. I knew that I was very interested in learning more about the Renaissance era. I did a lot of research about the music, art, and literature during that time. I came across a lot of information about some things, and only few about others. I felt stuck and hopeless on my project, so I decided to take a break and try to look for something else in a few days.
A time capsule represents a culture in a bottle. And so, in order to create a relevant time capsule, this class must ask the question; “What three facets of a society clearly represent its culture?” Because archeology specializes in the deciphering of long-dead cultures, a look at archeology’s perspective is most beneficial in answering this question. A review of the archeological literature reveals three topics consistently dominating the conversation. The technology, belief system, and pastimes peculiar to a nation define its culture to observers viewing it from a future date. Therefore, a time capsule to be opened in the year 2115 must include an artifact specific to the area of innovation, a relic representative of America’s dominant religion and the main contender, and something to present a picture of popular entertainment.
The Mona Lisa smile was captured perfectly by Leonardo Da Vinci in the early 1500’s. Leonardo da Vinci has a beautiful perspective of light, shadows and color in paintings that was an inspiration to those artists that came after him. As I was doing more research about Leonardo da Vinci I found that he thought about paintings as a science. This made him more credible in my eyes as well. The motivation that led Leonardo to this discovery was curiosity and asking good questions. I believe that the more he got involved, the more successful he was in creating new art. In the article that I read entitled “Art History: Sight and Salvation” written by Martin Kemp, he writes about the scientific process of Da Vinci’s paintings. I personally find this

Many of the Spanish Colonial Era Churches in the Province of Albay have succumbed to the “wrecker ball” culture and there are only a few left. One of these earthquake Baroque treasures is the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Porteria in the town of Daraga which is representative on an era in the province’s history. Built mainly with volcanic rocks during the 18th Century, the church that was declared as a National Treasure, bears details of the Baroque style and the shell of the structure is still intact even if most of the interior had already been destroyed or altered. Stakeholders decided to conserve the structure and restore the portions that could still be possibly restored especially the Eastern and Northern walls.

She is currently 500 years old with an interesting history. She was painted by Leonardo DaVInci and her purpose is unknown.
