Time Management
Before analyzing time management need to know how time is currently being used. Two questions to ask: First, the amount of time I have? Secondly, how is my time being used? The first question is easier to answer as most people work eight hours day that may vary times and locations depending on type of work. The second question can be more challenging to identify where time is being used. For example, is most of one’s time speaking on the phone, answering e-mails, writing reports, or waiting for others to finish their job before starting their task? Some common time wasters are: doing a wrong task, underestimating the time it takes to do a task, not delegating tasks appropriately, delaying/procrastinating, and letting conversations go too long.
Improving Time Management Habits
We know time is very valuable and there is a lot to be done in limited hours. The first exercise discussed above involved using a time log and identifying how time is currently being used. Once certain tasks are identified as time wasters, there are three steps one can do to improve his or her time management: 1. Controlling environment, which includes physical items surrounding as well as mental environment with things we watch and think about. 2. Using technology when practical to be more efficient. For example, e-mail allows responding to many more people at once than phone or mailing; however, it can be less personable and have less of a response than other communication methods. 3. Avoid time stealers, which include time wasters, television, and social networking websites. While some jobs can benefit from social networking, majority of the time people find time passing by when utilizing social media.
Finally, managing paperwork is another area where time management habits can be improved. One tip is to not keep any hard copies of digital documents such as pdf’s and e-mails. Since these are readily accessible and backed up in cloud-computing, it is unnecessary to keep
Nowadays, people are busy with their daily tasks and some cannot manage their time. People always struggle in lives and it is hard to maintain what they have been doing in the future, because things may come up and cannot deal with it. Some people usually miss their deadline and go insane because of that. From that angry, they put it to their daily lives and cannot control in any situation. At the end, they lose everything that they have built for a long time and cannot bring them back on track. That’s why this book “Time Management from the Inside Out” by Julie Morgenstern has become a handy, because it shows you the way to manage time and how to deal with daily tasks in the workplace or at home. Time management techniques are essential to living your life more efficiently. Many people spend their days in a frenzy of activity but achieve very little because they are not concentrating on the right things. By using time management skills, you can learn to determine which of the things you do are important, which can be dropped, use your time in the most effective way possible, break down the roadblocks that waste it, and increase the effectiveness.
In today's busy lifestyle, many people do not manage their time wisely. We make way too many excuses instead of making results. We often say we don't have time to do certain things, when in reality, we have plenty of time, we just don't use it wisely. We tend to spend too much time watching television or on social media instead of completing tasks or assignments that need completing.
In order for me to be successful in my graduate studies at GCU, I need to take time management into serious consideration. This time monitoring worksheet exercise and the time management webinar has given me more insight into how to wisely manage my time on a daily basis in order to be more productive with my school work.
Being able to manage your time is very important. There comes a point when time vanishes without even realizing it. Fortunately, with the help of Laura Vanderkam, anyone can gain control of their free time. She writes about time management which includes the many ways any person can utilize all of their time to the equivalence of their priorities. Some other techniques I use to help manage my time is staying organized. I have a binder that holds all of papers for my classes, as well as a notebook for each of my classes. This helps me to find what I need in a timely manner and not lose important information. I also use alarms to help me stay organized. If I have something really important I need to go do, I will set an alarm reminding me to be somewhere 20 minutes prior to the event. Staying organized in my opinion can be simple task that save you a lot of time in the long run. Another example is if I have a busy morning I will lay out my clothes the night before, this way I am not scrambling around in the dark trying not to wake my roommate up as I am searching for something to wear.
Keeping a time log was a helpful in determining my performance regarding time management. I start by recording my activities for 15-minute intervals for one week., followed by the evaluation the results. I checked to see I did everything that was needed; determine which tasks consumed most of my time; determine the time of day when I’m most productive. Also, I analyze where most of my time is devoted to, i.e. family, job, personal, recreation, etc. In addition, it enabled me to Identify my most time-consuming tasks and to determine whether I was investing my time in the most important activities, and to see if the activity can help to determine my course of action.
Time management is the ability to use one's time effectively or productively. Time management skills can really help those who work. Working on with Mrs. Logue on yearbook has allowed me to show off my time management skills and learn more ways to manage my time. Being self-directed and having initiative, along with great time management skills, can help a person be successful.

By tracking my time for one week I discovered I have more time than I think. My 168 hour week was broken down into seven categories; maintenance, work, education, family/friends, goof off, personal and group time. In viewing the total hours spent in each category I see that I need to change my priorities.
Time Management is a skill that is used to organize our time in order to accomplish the tasks at hand in an efficient and effective manner. Time management is a skill that is a very critical element for all nurses; it is about working smarter, not harder. Time management keeps us from wasting our time and being able to provide better care for our patients and help reduce stress. As nurses, being able to plan, organize, delegate and implement those plans at work will help us to be more effective with our time management (Said, 2014).
Time management is a critical element to being successful, not just in school or business, but in life. As people work to sharpen the skill of time management, they must always keep the end goal in sight, as that will keep most people focused. Being successful in time management takes a lot of practice and a little bit of skill. Knowing and implementing steps that can help us manage our time will not only lessen the stress' related to getting everything done in a short amount of time, it will also make life much better in general.
Time management is a useful skill that I want to keep for my whole life. It teaches me how to utilize my time on different things that I want to achieve. Life is about making decisions; you always want to spend the time on things that are important to you. After you have decided what those things are, you can go on and set up a plan that can lead you to the path of success. However, you should be careful about taking too many things at a time, everything has a sequence, going one by one should be saved for your plan.
Before we can manage our time we must know exactly what time is. The dictionary describes it as, the duration of one's life; the hours and days which a person has at his disposal. How we dispose of that time is time management. It's the way we spend our time to organize and execute around our priorities. Remember just because time is intangible doesn't mean that it is not valuable. I want to teach you about the background of time management, the different styles and how to use them, and how it will change your life.
