Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand is a historical biography about the life of Louie Zamperini. Louie began as a delinquent and soon became a track star. Heading into the battlefield, Louie Zamperini became a bombardier. On a search-and-rescue mission, Louie’s B-24 crash landed into the ocean. He became a castaway with two other crew members. Louie was captured by the Japanese and sent to a POW camp. After two years, Louie was reunited with his family. During his childhood, Louie was troublesome turning into a resilient individual during the war, then developing into a forgiving person after the war.

People were mistreated during WWII and were tortured in POW camps. Louie Zamperini, a character and a real person from the book Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, was in the army during WWII and had to go through the torture of being a prisoner at a camp in Japan. In the book Unbroken, Louie was going to be a famous Olympic runner until the Olympics were cut short when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and caused World War II to start. Louie drafted in the air force and crashed on a mission; he had to live on a raft for 47 days without any food or water. He was washed ashore on a Japanese island and became a prisoner of war. The most important thing to be learned from the life of Louis Zamperini is to never crack under pressure, because of his survival on a raft, how he withstood the cruelty of the bird, and how he survived through the torture of Japanese POW camps.

If the humans can not be trusted, then only animals can be trusted which means the smartest animals should be the leaders which are the pigs. Through simplicity and repetition the pigs teach even the dumbest of animals this slogan. Second, Squealer repeats “Tactics” a number of times to conceal Snowball is the creator of the windmill design (58). Squealer conceals who the original creator of the windmill is by “repeating Tactics, comrades, tactics!". Although the reader knows Snowball created the windmill, the animals believe Napoleon created it because right before they began asking questions Squealer repeated tactics a number of time to confuse them and get their minds off the subject. Free college is a commonly accepted idea, as a crucial part of society's advancement. Education is the foundation for building a strong country, as knowledge is what allows for productivity in all areas of life. However, the cost and accessibility to standard higher education limits many people's availability to a quality schooling. Some may argue that public colleges should continue to charge tuition, as the federal government can not afford the cost nor will creating higher taxes to enable the program solve the crisis. However, ultimately, higher education should be free as it would stimulate economic growth, remove the primary deterrent for not attending college and decrease dependence on government aid.

By going back to school and getting my degree I am opening up potentially lots of doors for myself in the future. I am setting a good example for my boys and that no matter what age you are, it is never too late to go back to school and further your education. Education is the key to opening up positions in the workplace that someone without an education would not be able to pursue. The benefits will far out way the time and work that it will take for me to complete my degree. This will be something that I can be proud of and prove to myself and others that no matter how hard the goal may seem or how long it may take you to reach the end results, it is always worth it to follow your dreams. I am extremely motivated to accomplish this goal for myself.
