85 years. 85 years is the average lifespan of a human, according to the Social Security Administration. Humans as individuals are not around for an exorbitant amount of time. The heartwarming, yet devastating 1997 film Titanic, by James Cameron, as well as, the spunky and rebellious quote, “If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun”, by Katherine Hepburn, reflect the idea that even though life a short, why not make it a good time? James Cameron in his film, Titanic, portrays two characters, Jack and Rose, who long for adventure. Jack Dawson is a young, penniless artist, who has nothing to his name except the clothes on his back, his sketchpad, and a couple bucks in his pocket. After spending time drawing his way through Europe, Jack …show more content…
The way someone would figure this out is by first following the rules, realizing that life is boring as can be, and then coming to terms with breaking the rules to find a trill. This can be related to a child growing up. Children, when they are young, tend to listen to their parents, do as they are told, and are imbedded with the idea that rules must be followed at all times. Those children, however, will start to grow up one day, and want to test the waters. They will want to have fun, and lose the innocence of being a child as they start to break the rules and make their own decisions. They become adults. Losing innocence is an inevitable part of life, and is similarly represented in Titanic, as Rose and Jack fall for each other. Rose grew up in a high class family with a social standard to maintain. There was always a molded lifestyle set up for her; it was the lifestyle she never wanted. Rose constantly felt like she could never break the mold, until she met Jack. Jack became her beautiful drug. She did not want to break her mother’s social standard to be with him, but she could not bare to not be with him. Something about him kept drawing her in, she was addicted. In a fast, fun scene of the film, Rose and Jack were on the run from some undesired company, sent by Rose’s fiance, they found themselves running in between masses of cars on the storage deck of the ship. They took refuge in …show more content…
One of them being, Rose and Jack throughout the movie come to reach a level of maturity and find that some rules should indeed be followed. After the Titanic goes down, but before Jack’s tragic and untimely death, Jack and Rose made each other a promise. Jack pleaded to Rose as he hung in the freezing water, “Never let go.” With fear he may not make it she replied, “I’ll never let go Jack, I'll never let go.” In that moment Rose and Jack realized the only way to have fun is not to break rules. They gave each other the rule to never let go, and that is a rule they will always follow since it unfortunately followed them to the grave. While Rose and Jack were able to reach this level of maturity, Hepburn’s quote does not indicated any possible maturity, only rebellion. Her quote focuses on having fun, and not caring what rules try and stop her. There are some rules, that need to be followed simply for reasons, such as safety and respect. Her quote, however, shows no remorse for breaking rules. While this is a good thing in some cases, others in is not. Unlike Rose and Jack, it is uncertain based on the quote if Hepburn ever reached that level of maturity to know when rules should be
He always questions the power of the conch and Ralph, saying that the conch rule does not matter on certain parts of the island, his part of the island. The part that the savages control. Yet he uses the conch to his advantage when possible, for example when he calls his own assembly to talk about Ralph not being chief. For him, the conch represents the rules and boundaries that have kept him from acting on the impulses to dominate others. Their entire lives in the other world, the boys had been used to the rules set by society against physical aggression. On the island, however, that social standard is not there and they need to be adults and set the rules. Jack has no one to tell him his behavior is bad. He quickly loses interest in that world of politeness and boundaries, which is why he feels no need to keep the fire going or attend to any of the other responsibilities that would help the entire group. His desire for power takes over his common sense and

Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater – For movie buffs in the 1990s, when you heard someone talking about “Jack and Rose,” you would probably think Titanic. You would think about the Love and Mystery, Excitement and Suspense. You might hear comments like: “What a great movie” or “Oh, it’s just a movie… It wasn’t really that bad.” The latter people would be correct: it was worse. The Titanic was so much more than a movie could ever depict. Death, destruction, terror, sadness: those were the emotions for the people aboard the Titanic. The disaster that is Titanic could have easily been avoided, and the needless loss of life would have been spared, if just minor changes in planning were taken heed of at the beginning of the voyage.
Great scene, it showed a central claim, pro and counter argument, rebuttal statement, and eventually one of the characters won the argument. It has been a while since I watched the Titanic, so a forgot that scene actually happened. Jack used a few great strategies to win that argument. When he first came on scene, he did not overreact to the situation. He kept his composure through out the debate. He then used his cigarette to get closer to Rose by showing her that he wants to throw it in the ocean. Even though Rose told him it is non of his business if she jumps, he made himself as part of the situation by telling her he has to jump after her. By doing that Jack is forcing her feel guilty and think about his life also. Then Jack
The female pharaoh, Hatshepsut, is arguably one of the most influential people of ancient Egypt. For thousands of years, the workings of Hatshepsut have been subject to multiple interpretations, from both her time and the modern day. An evaluation of the effectiveness of her reign can be resolved from the reliability and validity of evidence presented today, both primary and secondary.
Rose is unable to fully accept herself or the statements made by her mother throughout the chapter, until she reflects back on her relationship and realizes how her mother predicted this by the condition of the garden taken care of by her husband. She understands her mother finally and stands up to Ted, explaining to him how she was going to fight for everything in the divorce.
However, in both contexts, Wilde almost uses Lady Bracknell as an example of what one shouldn’t be like.
Jack demonstrates leadership qualities at the first place when coming up with a plan of being rescued. Nonetheless, as the time passes, he begins to enjoy a sense of power. He becomes forceful, hazardous, and is willing to kill. Jack and Ralph attempt friendship even though they have extremely different personalities. Their original feelings were

But look again, I set trends. I decide who I want to be. I do not let society define my image. I do not let my peers decide what makes me happy. I chose Leonardo DiCaprio as the other half of who I am because he set trends, does not follow society’s wishes, and does what makes him happy.
Rose: No. Born into a wealthy family, Rose DeWitt Bukater was the breakout character of Titanic. Rose broke the class divide by falling in love with a penniless artist, Jack Dawson. Played by Kate Winslet, Rose starts her adventure in a forced engagement. Her father’s death left the mother and daughter all but broke.
Jack is a guy who doesn’t like to follow rules, unless they were made by him. With that fact, one can see that Jack truly does respect the rule even though he might not like it.
The two main character of the movie are Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater. Leonardo DiCaprio plays as Jack and Kate Winslet plays as Rose. Jack who is a poor homeless man from Wisconsin he has travelled lots of places. He wins two ticked to the unsinkable ship The Titanic in a poker game. He travels in the third class passenger with his friend. Rose is a seventeen year old girl who is forced to marry so she and her mother can maintain a higher status after the death of her father. The director of the movie James Cameron is an amazing person. The reason I say that is because he took an actual tragic event and combined it with the tragic love story which he knew this is something that audience will love. The movie actually gives people an idea about how the actual Titanic was hit and sink. Not just an idea the movie teaches about the Titanic the unsinkable ship by giving them the visual of how it was sink. When you are watching this movie it is very hard not to cry. Rose is tired of her life been stuck around all the rich people and when she meets Jacks, he talks her out of jumping off the back of ship. When they first meet viewers can tell that eventually they will fall four each other. They meet in secret night and day as they were frowned by the rich people. There was nothing stopping them from meeting to each other as they show that love wins. When watching the movie some people can also relate to their personal life story to on how
