To Dance With The White Dog
When one is young in age, it is important for him or her to have a caretaker. It is important because there are many things that one cannot do at a young age, such as feeding or dressing one's self. In contrast, there are also many things that one cannot do at an old age, such as being the breadwinner of a family or going to the bathroom on one's own. In both stages of life one is usually helpless and dependent on others. This is why old age is usually considered one's second childhood. In the movie To Dance with the White Dog, Sam Peek had a hard time adjusting to his second childhood. He did not like the fact that he eventually would have to rely on his children Kate and Carrie to take care of him.

The only person he ever relied on to help him out was Cora. Whenever Sam would have sharp pains in his hip, Cora would be the one to fetch the medicine for him. Sam would make sure that Cora had her medicine for her heart on her at all times and would remind her to take them. His daughter?s would also try to talk to him like he was a five year old. They thought that he was unable to comprehend everything they were saying. Another thing that little kids and old people have in common is their vivid imaginations. Shortly after Cora died, Sam found a stray white dog hanging out on his property. The white dog became his companion and went with him everywhere. The white dog would not show herself to anyone but Sam and this annoyed Kate and Carrie. They believed that the dog was a figment of their dad?s imagination and the only reason why he was seeing things that did not exist was because he missed Cora, their mom. Kate and Carrie started to pretend to see the white dog and it got on their dad?s nerves. Sam eventually decided to mess with his daughter?s heads for kicks and giggles. So whenever they were around he would pretend white dog was around to freak out them out.
Late one night, Sam was having trouble with his hip. He got up to get his medicine and fell to the floor shortly after. The pain was so severe that he could not move at all. The white dog started to run around in the yard to
“Belief in the truth of someone or something.” Trust is probably the most valued thing in human interaction and when Christopher’s father confessed to lying to him, Christopher feels like he cannot trust his father anymore. Although, Christopher, the main character of the novel The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time written by Mark Haddon, has autism and thinks very differently than I do, I can relate to him because a little over two years ago I lost all my friends and was diagnosed with depression making it hard to trust people. To me, parents and friends are supposed to be the people you trust and hope that they will never hurt you, and when Christopher felt betrayed by his father I instantly recollected when I felt that way towards
Richard Russo's "Dog" and Amy Tan's "Two Kinds" are stories that illustrate the negative impacts parents sometimes have on their children and the unintended consequences that occur as a result of their parenting. In "Dog," Henry Devereaux grows into an adult who has difficulty connecting emotionally with others, a man who is not easy, and though entertaining, is not comforting. In "Two Kinds," Jing-mei was a failure many times over in her mother's eyes, finally dropping out of college and only accepting of herself later in life.
It is a challenge for many children as they grow up to learn to be more independent. It can be particularly difficult for people with learning disabilities to learn how to move through the world on their own. In The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon, Christopher Boone matures into an independent person after experiencing internal and external conflicts. Christopher struggles with his search for independence, and becomes an extreme example of this integral part of growing up.
The film, Dances with Wolves, staring Kevin Costner gives a historically accurate presentation of the Sioux Indians and their way of life. In this production, Lieutenant John Dunbar, played by Costner, is rewarded for his heroic actions in the Civil War by being offered an opportunity to see the American frontier before it is gone. Dunbar is assigned to an abandoned fort where his only friends are a lone wolf and his beloved horse, Cisco. After several weeks of waiting for more American troops, a Sioux Indian makes contact with Dunbar and reports this finding to his chief. This incident sets off a train of events that would forever change John Dunbar and the Sioux tribe he encounters.
Dogs are the closest creature to man. Sure they are considered as best friend by some. Compared to others, they show an attitude of a friend. They stay beside you no matter what. They also have this sacrificial attitude for their owners. Their being playful and sweet is also remarkable, to the extent that you find yourself longing for them.

Have you ever been lied to? It hurts right? You lose all the respect and all the trust you had for that person. Trust is absolutely necessary for relationships to succeed. In the book “The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time” by Mark Haddon we are introduced to Christopher, a mentally challenged teen who is really smart in math and science but not very smart when it comes down to social skills. Christopher hates lies and doesn't trust people who tell them.

Lt. John Dunbar was lying on a hospital bed, leg totally mutilated. Barely conscious, the man over heard the surgeon say he could not amputate this mans leg as tired as he was. Dunbar didn’t like what he heard, so when the surgeons left, he grabbed his boat, and he slowly slid the boat up his mutilated foot biting on a stick to relive the massive pain.

In spite of George being small ,quick , dark of a face, restless eyes, sharp features, some would think Lennie could be caring for him, not the opposite. George cares for Lennie because his aunt Clara passed away. Lennie’s aunt Clara took him in when he was a baby and raised him. When his aunt Clara passed away Lennie just came around and went with George. “ An’ you ain’t gonna do no bad things like you done in Weed, neither” ( Steinbeck 7). This is George telling Lennie not to do anything bad . For example, George tells him do not talk to anybody only do work. George will do all the talking. If Lennie gets scared he would panic, and if he panics he would hold on to the object. Another example is “You go get wood. An’ don’t you fool around. It’ll be dark before long” (Steinbeck 8 ). By this quote some can tell that Lennie is childish since George told him not to fool around. Some can also tell that George is kind of like a parent to Lennie. The quote proves that George is kind of like a parent to Lennie. George cares for him and also feeds Lennie. The fact that Lennie’s parents are gone, it was a good thing that George took him in like his own. By caring for Lennie and caring for George himself his dream gets harder to
“Wag the Dog” is a humorous movie. The fact that the movie is based on a fake war in Albania encouraged me to watch it. This movie is based on a Hollywood film producer who constructs a fake war with Albania to distract the electorates from a sex scandal days before the presidential election. The president of the United States is discovered making sexual advances, less than two weeks before Election Day, on an underage girl in the oval office.

It is often said that a dog is a man’s best friend. In the last 14,000 years, dogs have accompanied man by helping him hunt, guard, and protect. In our modern world, dogs help us combat in war, search-and-rescue, guide the blind, deaf, discapacitated, rehabilitate patients in therapy, aid law enforcement, and are part of our family as beloved pets (Coren). Although canine superstars such as Lassie, Old Yeller, and Rin Tin Tin portray the perfect dog we all want in our lives, these ideals are far from the truth. Many first-time dog owners expect dogs to know behaviors such as how to walk on a leash, not bite, not destroy the house, and in addition to many others. In reality, dogs must be trained on what their handler wants them to do. It is
