It was the day with cloudy, the sky was gloomy and dark. It was in the morning and we went to go play soccer in the cemetery. As we were on the way to the cemetery, the street was quiet and the wind was howling very cloud. Twenty minutes went by, the street became dimmer as we get closer to the cemetery. Suddenly, the cat with three legs crossed the street, and the truck crushed the cat into pieces. Blood was everywhere and one his leg was never found. After we glanced at the cat for a while, we continued the trip. When we turned the bike into cemetery, there was very noisy voice from the cottage house next to the cemetery. It was like someone scream for help. The noise became louder and louder as we went forward. Then, we heard another screaming voice come from the house. We looked over the house and saw the mockingbird locked in the cage. The bird was screaming "help" very loud when we looked at his eyes. …show more content…

The bird started cautioning us about the trip that we were headed to. He warned us to not touch anything in the house if we saw it. Then, it opened the cage and flew away. Everyone started

“Maycomb was an old town, but it was a tired old town when I knew it. In rainy weather the streets turned to red slop; grass grew on the sidewalks, the courthouse sagged in the square. Somehow, it was hotter then: a black dog suffered on a summer’s day; bony mules hitched to Hoover carts flicked flies in the sweltering shade of the live oaks on the square. Men’s stiff collars wilted by nine in the morning. Ladies bathed before noon, after their three-o’clock naps, and by nightfall were like soft teacakes with frostings of sweat and sweet talcum...There was no hurry, for there was no where to go, nothing to buy and no money to buy it with, nothing to see outside the boundaries of Maycomb.” (Lee 6) In Harper Lee’s classic story To Kill a Mockingbird,
In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, through a child's eyes Haper Lee develops a character named Arthur Radley. Arthur is know to the children simply as Boo . The name they have given him, depicts the way the children views him. Throughout the town of Maycomb, people twisted Boo’s personality and character into a terrible person. As the novel unfolds, the children finally discover the true character of Boo. But, because Arthur Radley lived in the shadows of society, the creation of the myth of the monster Boo Radley thrived.
“‘You want to grow up to be a lady, don’t you?’ I said not particularly” (Lee). Jean Louise Finch is a tomboy growing up in a world where a girl is expected to become a lady. Submissive housewives and proper ladies were the expectations set for women in the time To Kill A Mockingbird took place. Scout Finch lived in a household that had a strong male influence; aside from Calpurnia, she had no real present example of what she was supposed to become. Because of this, Scout refused to conform to the ways of the rest of the women in Maycomb and the world (Lee 84).

Courage, the mental or morale strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty, is displayed in many different ways throughout Harper Lee¹s only published novel, To Kill A Mockingbird. To some, the courage manifested by the characters in this book is either offensive, or frivolous, but to those who realize the true meaning of this word, the fortitude and bravery exhibited by certain individuals is considered uncustomary. In fact, To Kill A Mockingbird revolves around courage, as the author of this book describes Jem and Scout¹s (the two main character¹s in the story) childhoods living in Maycomb County, and how, as they grow older , they learn to realistically define heroism. charged at Chris, and Lee with inhuman speed. Lee placed Harper down from his shoulder and reached into his waist to pull out a handgun, but before Lee or Chris were able to fire their guns there was a large hail of bullets from outside. There were bullets breaking the glass windows of the school as it shredded the dogs’ skin like paper. Chris tackles Lee down to the ground trying to protect him from any incoming gunfire. The heads of the dogs start to burst like balloons covering the entire room in enormous amounts of blood. Chris, Harper, and Lee are covered in the blood and body fluid of the dogs. Chris whispers into Lee’s ear “Stay down” he cautions him of the danger of the men standing outside the building. The men outside bash open the
Not every person's perspective in a society is the same. Our perspectives differ due to how we were raised and our personal beliefs. In the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Lee bases the story from a six year old girl's perspective. We refer to this character as Jean Louise Finch, or more commonly known, Scout. Her perspective and beliefs are most evident when she gets into a fight with a farm boy named Walter Cunningham, when she and her twelve year old brother Jem go protect their dad Atticus, a lawyer, at the County Jail and when she protects a neighbour across the street from a distressing situation.
Never criticise a woman's choice of attire, especially her shoes, no matter how unsuitable to the conditions, or inappropriate to the situation they are. Duane immediately realised his mistake, and attempted to atone for his error of judgement by holding up his hand. However, the effort to apologise wasn't driven by altruism - Duke had quickly realised that he could hardly expect Karmen to listen to his clothing advice on their planned shopping expedition if she were still seething at the comment about her heels, - unlike the gift of his treasured Pork Pie hat, which was.
Each character’s personality in the book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee is intricately described, therefore giving the reader an image or idea of the kind of person he or she is. A picture of the character is formed in the mind with maybe rough edges but a soft heart on the inside. A character’s personality may be oversimplified by drawing shapes in symbolism, but the shapes may be helpful in perceiving the general extent of the characteristics. With a little help from Lee’s descriptions, I have been able to form images in my mind (and draw them on paper) of the personalities of Scout, Jem, Atticus, Dil, Calpurnia, Boo Radley, and Bob Ewell.
Courage is the quality of mind that enables one to face danger with confidence, resolution, and gain a firm control of oneself. Many of the characters in To Kill a Mockingbird showed courage in their own way. Courage can come in many different forms: physical, mental, emotional and moral. Courage is not the only main theme displayed in To Kill a Mockingbird; prejudice and education are also very important themes exhibited throughout the progression of the novel. Through the eyes of Scout Finch, a bright, sensitive and intelligent little girl, these themes of the novel are explored in great depth.
To Kill A Mockingbird The town of Maycomb is just like other Southern towns that suffers considerably during the Great Depression. This is when poverty affects everyone from the rich to the poor. In this book Harper Lee explains what kind of trouble the people of Maycomb are going through.
The book "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a story of life in an Alabama town in the 30's. The narrator, Jean Louise Finch, or Scout, is writing of a time when she was young, and the book is in part the record of a childhood, believed to be Harper Lee’s, the author of the book..
One cold, dark stormy night, I heard rustling in the bushes when I was cleaning out my shed. I went to investigate what it was and didn’t see anything. Then I continued to what I was doing. Then a few minutes later, I heard the noise again. I was thinking that it was a little rodent in the bushes.
Eating our delectable lunch was a delight. Everything was going perfectly, until, “ROAR,” and then I knew that this was going to be a Moustasic Disaster! “AHHHHH,” Dede, “it’s coming.” Mom and dad were flailing and panicking because the last time something like this happened, let’s just say it wasn’t that bright. “Hurry,” shouted mom, “it’s racing toward us.” I didn’t know where to go so I just started sprinting , thinking that I was going the right way, guess what, I wasn’t. Looking back behind me wasn’t the best idea either. “SPLAT,” looks like there's a tree here! When I open my eyes I see a squirrel with eyes as black as night and a duck with pale feathers and a lustrous beak. I see the tall, broad trees at both ends of my eyes too. They are both staring at me like I am dead or something. Feeling tarnished to the tree trunk makes it hard to balance my hazy legs getting up. “He’s alive,” said the duck. “Hi,” said the squirrel, “i’m Lucy and this is Betty.”
