Courage isn’t always bravery. Sometimes courage goes unseen. To Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, displays different types of courage. It is written from a point of view of a child whose name is Scout growing up in a Southern town with her brother Jem. Their father, Atticus Finch, is defending an African American man named Tom Robinson who is accused of raping Mayella Ewell. The Finches mysterious neighbor in Maycomb County, Arthur Radley, whom the children have never seen until Halloween night, adds to the rising tensions in the town. In Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird we see an innocent man get locked away because of the color of his skin. We, the audience, see an innocent man be targeted because he was black. These horrific scenes could be chalked up to history, we could always say that as a nation America has learned from its mistakes, that as a nation we accept everyone so fully. If this was true, if To Kill a Mockingbird was just a story then I, as a Muslim American teenager, wouldn’t be so afraid to live in this world.

The 1960s Civil Rights Movement is one of the largest social movements in American History. For many years prior, the majority of African Americans had just lived with discrimination as if it were a part of life. It took years for them to muster up the courage to fight the oppression and begin the Civil Rights Movement. Harper Lee uses a similar brand of courage in To Kill a Mockingbird, when many of the community members are put in situations in which they must be brave or cowardly. Harper Lee uses To Kill a Mockingbird to raise awareness about the importance of courage and how true courage is only shown when met with confrontation.

In the town of Maycomb, Scout Finch, also known as Jean Louise, explores the ways adults interact and express different opinions in her society. Maycomb is a town filled with different people that belong to different castes. In their town, there are two main types of people,  people who are white, and people who are colored. All adults in their society have their opinion to how these people should be treated, in which more than half are racist towards the colored people. Scout although is the daughter of a lawyer, named Atticus Finch, who follows the law and is against racism towards colored people. He is defending a colored man, named Tom Robinson, who is falsely accused of rape to Mayella Ewell by Bob Ewell. Scout mainly has been affected

When Scout was growing up she thought the Radley’s house was the scariest thing in Maycomb, that is until she grew up a little and realized the scariest thing in Maycomb was closer to her than the down the street, it was happening in her own back yard. Scout prejudged Boo Radley when he didn’t deserve it, Scout learned that harming innocent people is a sin.

"I certainly am (a “nigger-lover”). I do my best to love everybody..” says Atticus Finch, from Harper Lee’s book “To Kill A Mockingbird.” In the book, racism and social inequality was something that occurred. But today, I believe it is different. I disagree with the statement that America will never achieve true racial and social equality because there’s amendments that grant all U.S. citizens rights, there are people making a change and protecting those whose lives are in danger because of their race, and there are punishment for the people that show unlawful acts of hatred towards those people.

There are many different punishments for disobeying God. For example, in Leviticus 26:16 it says “I will punish you. I will bring sudden terrors upon you--wasting diseases and burning fevers that will cause your eyes to fail and your life to ebb away”. As a little girl, I would lie a lot, and when I was to get caught. I would try to lie my way out of trouble. So when I was 7 I decided that I would lie, and say that this girl told me she was going to hurt me. It was either a Monday or Tuesday when my grandmother came and picked me up from school. I thought that would be the best time to play out my plan. As were getting into the car I start crying saying I was threatened. My Grandmother reacted to this information by calling my Mother. I believe the closure in To Kill a Mockingbird was predominantly satisfying. It was only predominantly satisfying for me because, I believe that Bob Ewell’s death should have been more punishing for his sins and provided more justice to Tom Robinson’s death than the ending portrayed. On the other hand, it is the most likely outcome in real life, but the process of his death should have been more severe than just a result of karma concerning only one of his crimes; harming children. The punishment should have extended to bring justice to Tom Robinson as well to restore the balance. There are very few loose ends left, because of the full closure provided, however the only two questions that remains is what happened to Mayella Ewell and if Dill

Robinson had a long career of scamming money from people and businesses, but his tastes in sexual encounters and his need to push the limits of control and the justice system are probably what drove him to deviate from the safety of only doing white collar crime to committing murder. Like previously stated, he was always looking for new ways to test the boundaries and that when Paula Godfrey, a nineteen-year-old naive girl came into his office looking for a job, he couldn’t resist the idea of asserting his control over her. He was her boss, and at the time a big financial supporter in her life. He took this control from being her boss to being the last person she will ever see and killed her. Everyone grows over time, but not everyone matures. It is the experiences people encounter that help them develop and learn. The novel To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, teaches a reader how people learn through their everyday life. The main character Scout is helped grow and develop by three characters Atticus, Jem and Aunt Alexandra. They teach her the qualities she needs in her life. As a result of the influential people in Scout's life she matures and develops through her everyday experiences with them

Are people who are quiet, powerful? “People who are quiet, don’t want to waste time saying anything that isn’t worth saying. Since talk encourages more talk, they choose to stay silent, instead of having meaningless conversations.”(Tesh.com) People who are quiet are often the smartest people because they take time to think about their words and do not just say the first things that pop in their head. The quietest people are often the most powerful because they think before they act, they are mysterious, and are not pretentious.

That was a pretty scary dream, somethings that you could add is details of how the man look like so we picture his looks in our head. You could describe how you feel when you found out that your mom friend was the criminal because we would be know how you felt seeing the man. Also another thing that you could add is how you feel and what you heard when you stabbed the man, for example I heard my heart pound against my chest, my hands was sweaty as I picked the knife up and stabbed the man, I was scared knowing that I just stabbed somebody. When you add those details we would know what you was going through as you picked the knife up to stab the man.

To kill A Mockingbird is a classic novel by Harper Lee, the story is told by an older version of the young girl scout in the novel. The book is about discrimination and prejudice towards certain people. The saying went “it is a sin to kill a mockingbird” because they have done nothing wrong. There were two characters in the book that I think can be considered “mockingbirds”. These characters where Tom Robinson and Boo Radley.

* Scout’s moral development throughout To Kill a Mockingbird has to do with how she is taught to see “the other”, her exposure to racism and injustice, and that she had Atticus as a parent to guide her through her childhood. These factors together create a stable learning environment for Scout to grow and develop in.

For my paper, I have chosen to analyze the movie “To Kill a Mockingbird.” This movie is based on the novel – by the same name – written by Harper Lee. The story has two major plotlines. One follows Jem, Scout, and Dill as they try to uncover the secrets behind the infamous “Boo” Radley. It’s only at the end of the movie that we learn “Boo’s” real name to be Arthur, and that we discover he actually tries to protect people, as he saved Jem and Scout’s lives. The other major plotline, and the one most relevant to this class, follows Atticus Finch, Jem and Scout’s father, as he tries to represent Tom Robinson. Mr. Robinson is an African American man who has been charged with raping Mayella Ewell. The movie then
