To What Extent Is The Crusades Relevant Today

The Crusades had some religious hatred behind them. They would sometimes turn their fury against Jews. They had an economy that was built up to be better. Some Crusaders attracted people by the adventures, estates, and commercial opportunities. They had a negative impact on the 4th crusade, because they sacked the city and destroyed it.

After the First Crusade in 1096, Christian kingdoms were very upset. By 1144, a Mamluk general, Imad-ed-din Zangi, had succeeded in uniting enough Turks and Arabs in his army to attack the Christian kingdoms. Zangi did not take Jerusalem, but he did take the Syrian city of Edessa nearby. In Europe, people were very upset when they heard that the Turks had taken Edessa.

In 1095, The first crusade was launched by Pope Urban II at the Council of Clermont. Pope Urban hoped to recruit people for the crusades, and that is exactly what happened. But were the crusades a good idea? No. Many documents have said all the bad and good stuff, but more bad stuff then good stuff.

Because of the response the people had to Pope Urban II call to arms a wave of religious enthusiasm swept across Europe. In 1096 Peter the hermit created an army of peasants and soldiers. They traveled to Constantinople, this movement was called the peoples crusade. The outcome of the people’s crusade was tragic because almost all of them died.

After the fall of the Roman Empire, Europe entered a period of chaos and disarray known as the Dark Ages. For the duration of the Dark Ages, peasants were desperate for protection while rich landowners were desperate for workers. Thus, a system known as feudalism, in which lords protected peasants in exchange for labor, developed. Under the feudal lifestyle, trade slowed to almost a complete stop due to self sufficiency on manors. Education and almost all greco-roman culture disappeared. When Pope Urban II was urgently called to help the Byzantine Emperor, he stepped up in order to conquer the Holy Land of Jerusalem from Muslims. However, while the crusades ultimately failed and lead to religious intolerance, they ended the Dark Ages

The crusades were a bunch of wars in the Middle Ages when the Christians and Europeans tried to retake control of Jerusalem from the Muslims. Jerusalem was important to Muslims during the Middle Ages because it was believed to be where Muhammad ascended to heaven. The Christians found it important because it was believed to be where Jesus Christ was crucified and rose again.

These are the reasons, they we're hated by,and they also had a long struggle between the Muslims and Christians.That is why the results of the Crusades we're more negative than positive.

The Crusades were a bad place in that time because of all the blood and gore that developed upon the religions. This was the worst event to occur in religion history. These humans that were fighting for their religion never seemed to live a long, healthy life. Citizens fighted for their religion and brought random tools as weapons, like a farmer or a merchant. The Crusades killed a lot of innocent people and did not care, they even killed people surrendering. They stole and did a lot of bad things just because someone wants to bow down and pray doesn't have to start a war. This is the crusaders being a negative effect in general.Document 1 states that they take out their hatred on innocent people of their different religion but they won't hurt or kill the people of their religion. Ex. Christianity will kill Jews and Muslims, but not Christians. This is important because with this info you can obviously tell that they did not care about anyone or anything by them slaughtering, destroying, and terrorizing the cities of Constantinople and many others. Document 4 states that

The Crusades was a horrific time. Many people had lost their lives, friends, even family. The Crusades were a battle over the holy land, Jerusalem. The Crusaders, people who had fought in the Crusades, were Christians. They wanted the holy land because they believe that’s where Jesus had died and rose. They had fought against the Muslims who were defending themselves against the Crusaders. The Crusades had its positive outcomes as well as its negative results. Some may wonder, were the results of the Crusades more Positive or Negative? I strongly believe the outcome was mostly negative mainly because the Crusaders didn’t win the holy land, lots of lands were destroyed, and so many people lost their lives in the battle of the Crusades.

The First Crusades and the Islamic empire were both extremely strong and successful empires. These empires took charge and conquered other empires. There are many similarities and differences to why these empires and their military forces were so successful.

The events of the Crusades are relevant today because it has affected some part of everything. One thing is that many national flags have a cross on their flags to remember the crusades. Another reason is that in Europe, it helped solidify the Popes control and provide funds for the medieval western Church.

The Crusades are still relevant today because without them Christianity would not be as big as it is today. Another reason that the Crusades are still relevant today is because the geography of the places that the crusades took place in would be completely different. We may not even use the word “crusade” as often as we do if it weren't for the crusades. The Crusades brought a lot more faith to this world. Without the crusades we may not even have Christianity today.

The Crusades are significant today for many reasons. The first explanation for this is that history repeats itself. Considering history repeats itself, people know to look at that time period to know what we should avoid doing, this can keep us from other tragic and pointless events much like the Crusades. Another explanation for my reasoning is that conflict still sparks between Muslims and Christians today. If more people can get educated on the topic of the Crusades and the reasons it started, society might be able to move on and make amends.

The crusades has much related to today's society in many ways. Even though the Crusades were more consisted around the subject of religion, there is far more that we are now segregated from. Examples of this would be when speaking of gender roles, sexualities, interracialism, and more that is mainly consisted out of love, and personal beliefs. In the Crusades, they went to war because of the holy land, and who they believed to be the ruling religion. There are now riots in the streets, and people being shot, just out of the color, relationship preference, or religion they are. The many battles that were fought in the Crusades had effect, but didn't really change much, in ways things are seen in current times. All though there are places that

We still have wars and battles around the world that are important just like the Third Crusade and other Crusades. The people who fought in those battles were also important to the ones from the Third Crusade. Also we sometimes wear and use similar supplies from the Third Crusade battles. The Crusades are definitely relevant today.
