To What Extent Is Truth Different in Mathematics, the Arts and Ethics?

While art is only a hobby to some, it can be a source of happiness and closure to others. Art, literature, and music have helped numerous people through challenging times, being an outlet in which one can let their emotions out. This being said, struggles such as addiction and depression can have an affect on an artists work. Many artists would not have the same quality of work they have today if they did not channel their emotions through art as a outlet. Sharing experiences through art is one of the most timeless ways to tell a story, dating way back to some of the first pieces literature and music created. Art is one of the biggest outlets in which one can let their emotions out in a healthy and effective way, sharing one’s story, getting their feelings figured out, while impacting the quality of work that is created.

In today’s world, art carries a huge role in our lives as it surrounds us. It forces us to think critically and in different ways based on what’s in front of us, such as shocking, fascinating, and impressing our minds. It’s just a simple way of displaying color and style in order to force us to try and figure out what their message is. Art is not only about showing self-expression, but it also helps bring a population of people closer and promotes team building skills, such as building up long lasting relationships. It encourages people to contribute to the world so they can be remembered for doing something big. It is also a powerful way to communicate with others. There has been an ongoing debate throughout history as to whether or not an artist’s work should be judged separately from their personal life. Art in general is assigned specific meaning in today’s society that may or may not actually suit the art itself. Pair that practice with the strict scrutiny of people in today’s time, and there is a ruining of art culture, as well as the perception of the artist’s brilliant work. All people, put under strict scrutiny, will not be able to live up to today’s societal expectations. Because of this, art will lose its meaning, due to the fact that many artists are not the epitome of perfection. This leads me to say that art must be judged separately from the artists themself.

“How can a painting have so much to say” Is one question that people may ask themselves. Telling stories and expressing one’s self in paintings brings one to show others a new way of seeing and thinking about life. The canvas of every writer is easy to visualize or to relate to by how the painter expressed himself and wanted to portray the message through a painting. From Pablo Picasso to George Seurat and to so much more. The meaning and story of the panting’s take you to a whole different world. They make us view things differently and see things in a new perspective by how the painter is showing or expressing themselves. They explain what they had to go through or what was going on, by telling their story we can feel the emotion behind it as well as how raw it makes one feel. Through the painting, one can make their assumptions about what the story is. The beauty of art shows either the great or corrupt that the painter sees or the ongoing situation. They show the people different perspectives of what’s going on and they make you feel the same emotion that they put on the painting. We see art as a way of expression and it makes us connect to the painting that we see. The art helps us understand the way the person behind the drawing felt or what they saw when it was going on. The beauty of art is that it lets everyone express themselves through painting, so we can tell our story. Art is expressed through 1) human culture, 2) emotion, and 3) communication.

Creativity has been an inherent part of human experience since remote times when visual forms helped our ancestors to communicate leaving us with many recorded moments of their history. In a creative process multiple aspects bind together, things come out the intellect but also there are other states of consciousness and unconsciousness phenomena involved. A similar thing occurs in the contemplation of a piece, where we can have different interpretations, various sensations and opinions, but in one way or another through art humans develop common connections in between individual experiences. Art is word that most individuals have an idea, a mental category, of yet often fail to truly define. This is due to the fact that art is a term that has existed for thousands of years and thus its meaning and lexicography has changed drastically over the years based on endless factors. Art started off being defined as a craft, measured by the technical prowess of the artist and used as tool in the retelling of history or for religious practices and doctrine. From there, it evolved into a practice of replication, attempting to create the most realistic of images, particularly around the time of the renaissance, with the invention of linear perspective and a growing understanding of human anatomy based on dissection. In the renaissance, the more technically capable an artist is in recreating life, the more talented he is seen to be. However, movements like impressionism, a reaction to the invention of photography, now aimed for, not realism, but the capturing of the impression of the image, using colour and broad brushstrokes, giving pieces an unfinished look. Symbolism and expressionism aimed for a less literal view of the world. In reaction to freud’s interpretation of dreams, surrealism aimed to explore the creative potential of the human psyche, while the modernist movement resulted in art that can be as simple as painting squares on a canvas or signing your name on a urinal. Painting has always been one of my greatest fascinations. Contrary to common belief, the enjoyment comes not from the final piece. Rather, it is from the technical execution of the work that I draw a sense of inexplicable satisfaction. From the blending of the paint to the arrangement of subjects, each technique is a complex art form in itself that needs to be perfected in order for the finished piece to be considered “flawless”. The key component of every successful artwork is the language, expression, and message behind it. And this translation to the viewers is made possible by the the unseen execution during the creation of the piece. Hence, I have come to value the underlying process rather than the final achievement itself.

Good art allows me to flee the realms of reality. In my mind's limitless consciousness, I can escape the mundanity of everyday life. It opens a door in my head to a world only limited by my imagination. I am no more a slave to gravity, chained down on the earth when I am reading. I can be a bird and soar high above the clouds, or be a fish and swim deep down in the darkest depths of the ocean. I am there, I am that person, and everything else around me regardless of what it is, fades away. Sometimes these people are the one's I'd like to be but sometimes I encounter nefarious characters I wholly condemn. I am able to feel the emotions that the artist intends for me to feel. Art is a part of human growth, it helps the human mind flourish and reach different areas of thinking that other activities are unable to do. Artistry can challenge many levels of the mind as well as feeding to most of peoples’ senses. In most cases contributing to the subconscious and spiritual part of a person’s being, art is needed for growth and alignment. Ingenuity is a thinking process the requires thinking outside of the box. Art helps this type of creative thinking and expands it to help with better thought process. Artistry is universal and extremely diverse, making it available to every person around the world. Art is necessary for individuals minds expanding and learn. While also brining induvial together to become a unit of curiously and questioning, so they can all broaden their perspective.

Descartes once said, “It’s not good enough to have a good mind, the main thing is to use it well.” Rene Descartes was a French philosopher, mathematician, and scientist. He was labelled as the father of modern western philosophy. It is the human way to go through life without a distinct route. If one was to ever become lost, it is best to follow one route, instead of changing over to another. The lack of not knowing where you are going could possibly lead you going around in circles or to the same spot where you started off over and over again. Your best bet is to stay on the same path because your chances of making it out are higher than changing paths. It’s said that it is better to not desire to seek the truth, opposed to seeking the truth without a method, or a way distinct way of seeking the truth.
