To humans, having a healthy immune system is essential. Our immune system is important because it helps the body fight any foreign bacteria, viruses, and diseases by attacking it, which is why we must take care of it as much as possible by strengthening it. They are also seen as being tumor promoters, potent immune, developmental, and reproductive toxicants (Gasiewicz 1997). According to Gasiewicz, neuroendocrine and immune effects occur for children who are exposed to certain levels of these dioxin like compounds. When it comes to other countries and air pollution, China, one of the many developing countries, has serious issues dealing with the pollution in the air as it is worsening. Almost all of China’s residents living in more rural places use solid fuels, which includes biomass and coal (Zhang et. al 2007). Although it is not outdoor pollution, it is indicated that indoor pollution in China causes about 420,000 premature deaths per year. This is more than 300,000 which were attributed to the urban outdoor air pollution (Zhang et. al 2007). This type of air pollution is affecting respiratory illnesses, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, reduction in lung function, as well as the weakening of the immune system (Zhang et.al 2007).
The immune system is our body's defense against infections and illnesses. It is able to recognize any cells that make up our body as well as getting rid of anything that may seem unfamiliar. As mentioned before, the immune system destroys bacteria, viruses, and parasites, but it can also have its problems. Disorders of the immune system may result in autoimmune diseases, inflammatory diseases as well as cancer. Some of the autoimmune diseases include
