For this assignment, I wrote the years and events as I unrolled the toilet paper. Eight out of the sixteen events were on the first twelve sheets. After marking down all the events and unrolling the whole roll of toilet paper I rolled it back up carefully. While counting the number of sheets of the roll was tedious, I found rolling it back up was the task that really wore out my patience. Rolling the toilet paper back up really put the passage of deep time between each of these events into perspective for me. What I would normally consider as ancient or of distant past, such as pyramids, suddenly become something that happened recently. The task of writing down the events on the correct sheets of the roll made me realize that there is so much

Numerous advantages and disadvantages exist when explaining the history of the world in seven minutes, as seen in "The History of the World in Seven Minutes." As a result, many events are briefly looked at, or ignored completely. Both major and important occurrences in history are summarized, giving the events most influential to humans a spotlight or greater focus. On the other hand, humans have made exceptional progress over the last 15,000 years, consequently, all of the major time periods, civilisations, and confrontations cannot be observed by more than a name and a date; the lack of depth creates a sense of lacking and a gap of missing knowledge.

Miscommunication and missed information, resulting in potential errors, have been on the rise at Pelham Medical Center. In the past, the primary nursing staff was giving verbal report to oncoming nurses at the nursing stations. There are many disadvantages to this practice. Verbal report at the nursing station is distracting with so many nurses talking at the same time and is frequently interrupted by other staff, call bells, and family members. There are also potential HIPPA violations when reporting on patients within earshot of other people who are not involved in that patient’s care. The patients and their family members or care
The past is an essential part of growing societies and the natural world around us. Without small, memorable fragments in earlier years, there would be no beginning to the growing building blocks we've continued to developed as history.
An innocent child begs her mother for food, a single tear running down her cheek. The fires of life that once filled the girl’s eyes slowly begin to fade. The mother embraces her child, tells her the pain will be gone within a few moments. As she holds her, she feels the warmth slip away; her little girl’s body becomes engulfed by empty coldness. So much could have been done to save that life, from local government support to foreign aid, yet not enough aid was given. And so, society is posed with the question of “How much aid should wealthy nations provide for developing countries?” This paper will look at the philosophy behind this question by analyzing two articles.
Diverse historical encounters are subsequently sedimented in what she calls “palimpsest memories”. Since what happened later is inevitably molded by what happened before and understandings of what happened earlier in history are shaped by what happened thereafter, Shaw contends that memory pushes both advance and counter directionally in time (ibid.: 15).
This is one possibility for a hook: Cicero, the great Roman lawyer, historian, philosopher and statesman said, “He who forgets his past is doomed to repeat it.” Then I would talk about how accurate measures of time, and environmental observations are key pars to every story.

As historians evaluate the passage of time, it is necessary to place various markers that signify a change. In geologic history, these markers can be found in rock layers and often indicate a large extinction event. In sports history, the markers can be set by equipment or by participants and demonstrate a notable change in the way a game is played. In human history, specifically recent human history, the markers of momentous change are usually difficult to quantify. Rarely can a historian look back at one time or event and claim that it was important. The best that historians can do is break up human history into generations, or segments of time in which people were exposed to similar forces. The generations can last few or many years, and
