Alzheimer’s disease is an irreversible, brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills, and eventually the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. In most people with Alzheimer’s, symptoms first appear in their mid-60s.but it does vary, but experts suggest that more than 5 million Americans may have Alzheimer’s. It begins slowly first by controlling the parts of the brain that use memory and language.you begin to forget small things like names or recent events but over time the symptoms get worse. People don't recognize family members they known their whole life,they begin to forget what year it is and might get stuck believing there living in their past.Alzheimer can appear as young as age 30. Alzheimer case study : In my case study of Tom Limpony I found out about the struggles of having a parent go through the process of alzheimer's and how it has affected his life.Before Tom's mom was diagnosed.He rarely visited his mom anymore he was fresh out of college and was offered a new job far from his mother who since he was little raised him as single mother.Tom got a call from his aunt that he needed to go with his mother to the doctors because she was beginning to experience extreme memory loss and wouldn't let her own sister into the doors of her house.The doctors discovered the Tom's mother had early sign of alzheimer's.The doctors asked tom to move back in with his mother and help her transition into understanding that her life won't be the same anymore or move her too group home.With everything he had going on he decided to pack his bags and move in with his mom again.fast forward to now tom's mother sometimes become afraid of tom being in the house because she sometimes doesn't even recognize him.She live in another world believing tom is just her helper and her actual son is a still baby.listening to tom makes me afraid because i would never want my parents to forget who i am that must be really hard to deal with.i have a lot of respect for someone who can't change their lives completely around for the person they
