Legendary rocker Tom Petty dies at 66

Tom Petty, the legendary rocker and front man of the Heartbreakers has died. Petty’s brought us songs like “Free Fallin,” “American Girl,” and “Mary Jane’s Last Dance.” He died Monday night. He was 66 years old.
What happened?
Petty went into cardiac arrest on Sunday at his home in Malibu and became unconscious. He was taken by ambulance to UCLA Medical Center. He wasn’t breathing when he arrived, and he was placed on life support. On Monday after no brain activity was registering it was decided that life support would be pulled. Petty died peacefully on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 8:40 pm local time surrounded by his family, friends, and bandmates.

He and his band, the Heartbreakers, had just completed their summer tour last Monday. He told Rolling Stone that it was going to be his last tour around the country. However, he also said that once it was over he was still going to keep playing because unless he had something to do, he would be a nuisance around the house. Petty had 13 albums with the Heartbreakers and three solo albums. He sold more than 80 million records over his career, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time.

His legacy
Petty and the Heartbreakers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Petty himself has received many Lifetime Musical Achievement awards, and he and the Heartbreakers also have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His real legacy, however, is in how his music brought people together and inspired a generation. His music will live on, and therefore, so will he.

Petty is survived by his two daughters from his first marriage, Adria and AnnaKim. He is also survived by his second wife Donna York Epperson, and his stepson
There have been many stars throughout the years in country music. Two of the most iconic are Alan Jackson and George Strait. Alan Jackson hit his peak in the late 90s and early 2000s. He has not been as productive as of 2015, but he is still creating some music. George Strait was most productive in the mid to early 90s and like Alan he is at the end of his career. Country music was dramatically affected by these two and they both did it with class. They always made music that was family friendly and anyone could listen to it.
Even though Hank was pushed/encourages to become a country music performer, he enjoys what he does. In result, he is one of the most well known “rock” country singer. He has several top hits and many awards. Some awards include 4 emmys, 10 #1 singles, 13 #1 albums, 20 gold albums, and 6 platinums. Also, he won a grammy award for best album/track “There’s a tear in My Beer”, which was released in 2002.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience would continue touring until 1969, when they mutually parted ways. According to Biography.com, “That same year [1969], Hendrix performed at another legendary musical event: the Woodstock Festival. Hendrix,... opened his set with a rock rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" that amazed the crowds and demonstrated his considerable talents as a musician”. Eventually, his passion for music inspired him to form a new band called Band of Gypsys, with Billy Cox and drummer Buddy Miles. George Jones started from nothing and made his way to be a country music hall of famer. He is one of the best country music singers of all time. Between car accidents, fighting with his wife’s, money, alcoholism, and drug abuse all almost ended his career many times. George Jones, one of America's greatest country music stars of all time, he had a rough time with his alcohol and drugs, but still found a way to receive the Lifetime Grammy Award.
Jerry Lee Lewis deserves to be in in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He deserves to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame because he changed the way that people thought that Rock & Roll should be. He introduced the piano to the Rock & Roll scene which was unique at the time and people thought that, that was amazing. He also brought in a new attitude towards what people in Rock & Roll should be like, he was seen as the bad boy of Rock & Roll. One issue that occured with his third wife put his career in a setback and he stopped producing hits and canceled the rest of his tours.
George did not make music for fortune or fame. He made music imply because he had a passion for it. Alan Jackson paid tribute to George Jones at his funeral, which took place at the Grand Ole Opry. George paved the way for country singers like Alan. Country music has evolved a lot over the years, but Alan is one of the few country singers who sticks to the original sound of country music.

On of the biggest reasons that I think that little richard deserves to be in the rock and roll hall of fame is that his music paved the way for many different types of music from soul to funk. Including music like pop and rap. He brought all this different things from different types of music
