“It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog” Mark Twain. This quote can have many different meanings, especially if you think outside of the box. I think it means you should have perseverance no matter how big or how small the task is. From sixth to seventh grade is a big adjustment. Not just because there’s more homework, but while you mature, you find out more about yourself and your place in society. In Mark Twain’s book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer one of the biggest themes is growing up. Tom grew up to become a great young boy, and I believe that I have also matured in many ways.
In Mark Twain’s book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer one of the main theme is growing up and becoming more mature. When the book begins Tom is an arrogant, selfish, clever, and mischievous child, these are only a few adjectives to describe him. We see that Tom is childish because he envied Huck for his freedom (not fully understanding the disadvantages of being completely free), he loved to disobey Aunt Polly’s orders whenever he could, and he tricked kids to do his work like whitewashing a fence and giving him their tickets. This is a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche. While we mature we must not forget our childhood and the memories that helped us become mature. This quote tells us that no matter how much we try we will always have a childish side. Throughout this year I’ve learned much about myself and other people. I believe that many people have grown and matured and some still have a ways to go. Tom Sawyer was an adolescent when we first met him and I believe that I was too, but throughout this year I’ve gone through many events that helped me mature. I may still have a ways to go but I’m proud to say that I’ve grown in many aspects this
