Harrison, he is the author. His dad who is kinda a angry and violent man. His mom who is quiet and unassuming. He has a brother named bird, who is the course of the book comes out that he is a half brother. His wife is stunningly beautiful.
We don´t get a lot of information about the various characters. The story is told in first person through a narrator who’s an african american man who remains without a name throughout the novel, besides
The main characters in this story are Harriet Winslow, the old gringo, and Tomas Arroyo. Of the Three, Harriet learns the most as she starts her new life as governess across the frontier. She is a dynamic character that changes in the story because of the things that happen around her. Other characters include Manslavo, La Garduna, Frutos Garcia, La Luna and more. Carlos Fuentes did a very good job of describing these characters and paints a picture, like all great authors, of the characters portrayed in their novels.
Tom is an immoral character. He is very unlikeable because of his uncivilized attitude. He is a very arrogant, dominating and boorish man who doesn’t cares about anyone focusing only on what he wants and looks down on poor, helpless people. Not only this, but he is also racist and a complete hypocrite.
One the biggest flaws of Tom’s is that he makes horrible decisions. At the beginning of the book he has borrowed many thousands of dollars from mob bosses around the New York area and now they are trying to kill him. "Of course they found you, you idiot! What do you think this is— Manila? You can't just walk away with $100,000 of the mob's money and expect to live happily ever after.” (Dekker 25). His life is quite messed up. He is an unsuccessful author and lives
2nd Term Book Report Analysis of ConflictThere are many conflicts throughout the book to help the story move forward. Without the conflicts the story would be boring and uneventful. The main conflict of the book treasure island is the treasure. The pirates drink too much rumm so they are drunk for the whole book, this is a book about about pirates anyway. They are challenged by Flint's former crew members who are apparently pirates. I think that all the conflicts are important because the present challenges to Jim throughout the book. Another conflict of the book is when the squire blabbed that they had the treasure map. This caused their crew to be made up of greedy pirates who want the treasure and will do anything for it. One of these people was silver This

I believe that before we are able to compare and contrast the three men who have claimed ownership over Tom, we must examine each one individually, and then compare and contrast their ideologies to those that were typical of southern men at the time. Tom, at first is under the Control of Arthur Shelby, a farmer in Kentucky. Tom is eventually sold to Haley, a slave trader who in turn sells Tom to Augustine St. Clare in New Orleans. Finally, after the death of St. Clare, Tom is once again, and finally sold to Simon Legree, a Louisiana plantation owner.
In understanding the complex nature of the American Dream, Tom is the most egotistical of them all. His family has enormous wealth. Tom represents “old money” and the intergeneration transfer of wealth; which he offensively exploits. He lives in East Egg where the old aristocrats live. Tom is also a hypocrite, and his constant use of racist comments towards other ethnic groups and those less fortunate than himself indicate to me the reader that he feels he is superior.
Themes Independency and Maturing Treasure Island is a story about adventure. However it encompasses the theme of Independency and maturing. Jim is a young boy who is in the middle of becoming a Independent and mature adult. He has developed throughout the adventure and has turned into a role model for the others around him.
The story includes several rising conflicts. William Legrand gets bitten by the gold bug and becomes very ill. After Jupiter contacts an old friend of William’s and tells his that he thinks something is wrong with William, the narrator travels to Sullivan’s Island where William lives. William then takes the narrator and Jupiter on an adventure. Here they see the skull of a human hanging in a tree. William instructs Jupiter
Once the group arrives at the Navy base in Castelrosso, Mallory shows the plan of action to the rest of the group. While discussing the plans, they apprehend a spy, the laundry boy, who is to be imprisoned until the operation is over. A few hours later the team sets off again, this time on a torpedo boat. At the next stop, they switch their torpedo boat to an old caique. On the way to Navarone they encounter a German patrol boat. Thy are forced to attack the ship and sink it to prevent being caught with a cargo of explosives and an arsenal of weapons. Their boat also has engine trouble, and they decide to dock at a nearby island. When they get to the island, they realize that there is a German watchtower on it. A German sentry from the watchtower comes out to inspect their ship, but turns back without further inspection when Mallory shows him forged papers and letters of authority supposedly from a German general. Later, the Germans are somehow tipped off about the mission, and Andrea sneaks into the watchtower. The others distract the guards, and Andrea apprehends them and locks them in the basement of the tower. They fix the engine and set off toward Navarone
As soon as they get to Treasure Island, Jim and his comrades escape from the wrath of Silver and hide out in a bunker in the forest. Silver soon realizes this and declares war on Jim and his men. While exploring the forest, Jim comes across a man by the name of Ben Gunn. Ben is the only inhabitant of Treasure Island, and was marooned there three long years earlier. Ben decides to stay hidden in the woods while Jim goes back to the bunker. While at the bunker, Jim and his men are repeatedly attacked by Silver. The next day, Jim boards the Hispanola and beaches it miles down shore
If there is one thing this chapter does perfectly, it’s reveal to the reader how masterfully Tom can manipulate his supposed friends. Aunt Polly tells Tom he must whitewash the fences, keeping him from fun. Ben Rogers, “the very boy, of all boys, whose ridicule he had been dreading” (Twain 9), taunts Tom and insists Tom would much rather be him, free and about to go swimming. Tom, with all his smarts and talent, spins his whitewashing duty as privilege to Ben. Saying only he is good enough to do it, and he doesn’t have the opportunity often therefore it’s an experience. This succeeds at making Ben want to whitewash the fence, a chore which he previously referred to as work. Ben offers his whole apple for the job, and acting rather reluctant, Tom takes the deal. After Ben, there are more deals and more treasures traded to Tom for the experience of whitewashing. At such a young age, this could be viewed as alarming or borderline sociopathic, but later in life, Tom’s persuasiveness amongst other character traits could
