Stress is a huge issue that affects everybody both directly and indirectly. There are two basic forms of stress. Eustress which is considered a good form of stress and Distress which is the better known, negative form of stress. Chronic negative stress can have a serious impact on one’s health, life, and productivity. I have personally seen what impacts stress can have on myself, family, and others so I felt compelled to research and write this article in hopes of helping others out with dealing with stress. This is a more natural and effective form of breathing. This technique has been proven to temporarily relive stress during short term, or acute, stressful periods. Practice this every chance you get and I’m sure you start noticing the relief.
2. Meditation. Mediation has a mystical stigma for many but in essence it can really be a simple form of relaxation or a focus exercise. Our brains our inundated with stimuli every day. As our attention spans grow shorter we lose ability to focus and think clearly during times of stress. Here is a simple meditation you can use to help you regain your focus and reduce some of the pressure you are feeling. The first step is to go back to your breathing exercises from step 1. While doing this you can focus your mind on a happy event (Happy Place) or you can recite a comforting phrase or quote. I like to close my eyes and focus on the stress leaving my body as I exhale and positive energy entering my body as I inhale. It may sound holistic but it works. Practice this on a regular basis for 3 to 5 minutes so that the next time you are stuck in a stressful situation you will be prepared for it.

Stress can sometimes be caused by others. Stress can also be caused by things such as college, work, money, friends and family. I feel everybody deals with stress in their own way it's just up to the person on how they would like to deal with it. I deal with stress in many different ways. At one point in my life I used weed to cope with stress but I felt that this wasn't best for me for money reason and because that is not a healthy way to deal with stress. Now I use sports to deal with stress. When I am really having a stressful day I tend to go to the gym with some headphones and some of my favorite music playing and go shoot around. I feel this is a better way to deal with stress. It is something that I really enjoying doing. I would recommend that if someone was looking for a way to deal with stress they should find something that they can do that they really enjoy.

The therapeutic model I will outline is Deep Relaxation and Meditation, it has been said to “help with psychological stress, anxiety disorders and major depression” (215). For people with anxiety, “the stress system never shut down …. deep relaxation and meditation can help shut down the release of stress chemical into the bloodstream” (Brogaard, 215).
