Did you know that tornadoes can be “described as cyclonic because of the way the wind rotate.” , from the article “What You Should Know about Tornados” This essay is about how hurricanes and tornadoes have many differences and similarities. A tornado is a “frequently visible cone that tornadoes narrow points.” The definition of hurricane is a “wind from a rotating storm.” First of all there are many different similarities that tornadoes and hurricanes have in common. In fact the similarities between hurricanes and tornados are many for example the description. “Typical hurricanes are 500 miles wide.” while “tornados are only a few hundred miles wide.” Both of these extreme weather events, are “hurricanes are cyclonic and “A tornado can
Hurricanes form over the equator in warm ocean waters. First in a hurricane the winds start to pick up wind on the average reach about 39-73 mile per hour,th but in the great Galveston the winds reached 145 miles per hour the power of the wind can take down trees, houses and building. it rains very hard it is not uncommon during a hurricane to get 5-10 inches of rain. It’s also very common to get floods from the storm surge that averages 25-28 feet above sea level. Even though it is very rare tornadoes
Do you think hurricanes are nothing compared to tornadoes? The Hurricane of 1938 was a catastrophic disaster that New England was not prepared for. The New Englanders were just going about business as usual and once the storm hit without warning, no one was prepared. The hurricane caused very high waves, destruction of property, and flooding.
The best predictors for tornado activity are rotating thunderstorms. They are well defined thunderstorms on a radar that include flash floods, hail, lightning, or severe winds. (“11 Facts About Tornadoes”) These storms are called supercells (“Tornado Facts”). Once they reach land, tropical storms or hurricanes can be accompanied by tornadoes. When a warm front meets a cold front, a thunderstorm can form, which can create 1 or more tornadoes (“11 Facts About Tornadoes”). With little to no warning, a tornado may strike.
The hurricanes are usually considered intense storms of tropical regions characterized by strong winds exceeding seventy-four mile per hour, low-pressure center and thunderstorms. The center of hurricane the winds are usually light and the clouds are broken reason for that is air
Its raining so hard that I’m afraid the puppy will lose its sense of direction
Scientific proof is that stronger hurricanes can reach up to forty to fifty feet high in the sky and can range in mph. The hurricane needs the Coriolis force to form. It is stronger in the Northern Hemisphere and weaker near the Equator. The Southern Hemisphere experiences half the hurricane activity that the Northern does. When the hurricane forms, it can be large enough to carry winds of exasperating speeds and reach a diameter measurement of 600-800 kilometers (conserve-energy-future.com). The eye of the hurricane can be as large as thirty-two kilometers. What is strange is in the eye, the wind is usually calm. The temperature and weather place factors in the
According to Brain Dunbar, from Nasa, a hurricane is large swirling storm that produces winds of 74 mph or higher. That is much faster than the world’s fastest animal on land, a cheetah, which speeds range from 68-75 mph. Hurricanes are powerful rotating tropical storms which an average diameter of 100 miles. A hurricane is made up of an eye, the center of the storm, which
Throughout the years of literature, authors have experienced everyday life just as their audience has. Their experiences influence not only how they live their life; but, also how they will write their novels. Authors such as Stephen King, Cassandra Clare, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Charles Dickens have had experiences in their daily life that is found in their writings. Every author who has ever written a work has been influenced by something that they have lived through or has been inspired by an event that related to their life.
Instead of aggressive humor at other’s expense, men are more drawn to affiliative humor that brings people together through funny & awkward situations.
Hurricanes and tornadoes are both severe weather events that can potentially cause a great deal of damage to property. Both of these storms can threaten human life and in severe events with either a hurricane of a tornado there may well be a loss of life. They may be quite different in how they form and what they actually do but on the other hand those storms are both potentially devastating so they fall into the same category of potential severe weather danger. People who live in areas where hurricanes and tornadoes are known to appear during certain seasons of the year are always urged to be alert to weather warning systems. Those same residents know from experience to keep their radios tuned to weather emergency stations and they are in many cases prepared for the brunt of a storm by building basement shelters.
Good Morning/Afternoon, Ms Hall and my fellow classmates. My name is Dakota Summers-Hime and today, I would like to talk to you about why medical marijuana should be legalised in Australia. Before I go any further, I want to take the time to tell you what Medical Marijuana actually is. Medical Marijuana refers to marijuana being used to treat or relieve a symptom or condition. It is a medicine which can be used to treat some of the world’s worst conditions, including cancer, epilepsy, AIDS, Glaucoma and Multiple Sclerosis.
Roger A. Pielke Jr. and Roger A. Pielke Sr. in their book Hurricanes: Their Nature and Impacts on Society, state that the hurricane is a member of a phenomena called cyclones, which refers to “any weather system that circulates in a counterclockwise direction in the Northern Hemisphere and in a clockwise direction in the Southern Hemisphere” (p.15). The word
Tornados are one of the most destructive and devastating natural forces on Earth. When a tornado is fully created, wind speeds can reach up to more than 300 mph (483 km/h). Most tornadoes that occur are between the Appalachians and Rocky Mountains, but tornados can happen where ever the conditions are right. 90% of tornadoes that happen in the United States, happens in the Central United States. Even though scientist have not yet understood how tornadoes are formed, they’ve developed a theory that consist of the process and conditions of which a tornado must have to form.
A tornado is defined as a violently rotating column extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. The most violent tornadoes are capable of tremendous destruction with wind speeds of two hundred and fifty miles per hour or more. Damage paths can be more than one mile wide and fifty miles long. In an average year, eight hundred tornadoes are reported nationwide, resulting in eighty deaths and over one thousand five hundred injuries. In the body of my essay, I will tell you about types of tornadoes, where tornadoes come from, where and when tornadoes occur, the damage they inflict, variations of tornadoes, and how to detect tornadoes.
Tornados and hurricanes are often thought of as very similar, even at times identical. Both are destructive and can kill people, yet at the same time there must be a difference, because why would they be called different things if they were the same? Well, although both hurricanes and tornados have many things in common, some may be surprised to know how different they can be.
