One of the many scenes that evokes emotion from the audience is also one of the opening scenes where the Tuohy family meets Michael. They see him beforehand scanning the high school gym after a volleyball game searching for leftover food. Eventually, coming back from their son S.J.’s play, they see him on the side of the road on a cold, rainy night. Leigh Anne tells her husband Sean to pull over so she can ask Michael where he is going. Michael responds that he is going to the gym, but Leigh Anne catches on to the lie and recognizes that the gym is closed at night.
3 hours later...they had arrived at the anonymous place that the government had put them in.conveniently all the other cells were full so chantell,alissa,and sommer all got to share a cell. They were all freaking out and missing their parents and siblings.after they had all calmed down they decided to talk about things that make them happy so they could stay calm. they swore that every time they were freaking out they would think happy thoughts.
This trigger Michael to go back to his neighbouring friends but ended into a fight after the leader of the group gave crude remarks about Leigh Anne and her family. Leigh Anne went to look out for him after he run away but unsuccessful in her search. They got reunited when Michael called Leigh Anne to meet up with him to talk and this conversation went on to a decision that she would support him whatever decision he makes. Michael also satisfied the investigator with his decision of choosing University of Mississippi for the reason that it is where his family went to school. The film ends with an emotional goodbye between Michael and Leigh Anne as they took him to University of Mississippi for his college.

Growing up, I noticed him blinking, raising his eyebrows, or moving his jaw.
