Slaves for latifundium was the new source of wealth to Romans by the Mediterrain region conquest. During those periods, the ownership of slaves brought substantial profit. Some men became extremely rich and the number of slaves grew exponentially. Many misfortunes were the direct result of uprising slaves in Sicily. As a demand for coffee, cocoa, and indigo plantation but mainly sugar due its profitability.
