One of the elements that distinguish human beings from the rest of living beings is the ability to communicate in a systematized and understandable way, that is, using a language. Language is a complex system of symbols both phonetic and written that allows to communicate ideas, thoughts, feelings and different situations between two or more people. Since prehistory, human beings have had different or more complex forms of language, although it was only written in the year 3000 BC, a situation that favored the establishment of more accessible languages or forms of communication for all .
The importance of language is vital for the human being since it allows him to establish communication with other living beings and thus to live in community.

Ken Wiwa presents several ideas pertaining to language and culture within his essay, Get Beyond Babel. Wiwa explains that every language has a chance of dying out over time. For any language to survive through years of societal changes, it must be adapted so it can be used to embrace other cultures, new technology and new perspectives. Wiwa presents the concept that language is the same as culture. I do not agree with this concept because I believe that culture is carried by the people, not by the language.
