Although there is no way to predict the next step for organizations in the future, Toyota, located in Japan, was established in 1937 and began making vehicles for the military during World War II and has been successful in keeping up with the changes. Nevertheless, researchers have attempted to adapt the “product line” method of leadership in order to obtain the same results of business success. Consequently, Toyota Motors is a good example of this measurement of performance improvement. Remarkably, Japan is able to create a culture where employees are encouraged to communicate ideas for improving service. In addition, Toyota Motors has demonstrated the ability of manufacturing affordable cars that has been reliable for years in the making. Who better to understand how to improve on performance and understand how best to operate an assembly line than the employees who have front-line knowledge. Nevertheless, a company that promotes within and has low turn-over, surely has a model of performance that needs to be acknowledged.
Lean management will assist an organization with staying focus on the customers’ needs and ensuring quality product, efficiency, which can then lead to continuous success. According to the reading, lean management has shown to be successful as it is a “very simple concept: constantly strive to reduce the distance between you and your customer by eliminating all of the waste in your service delivery cycle” (Somonson, 2012, p. 227). As a customer, I much rather that the product be done at the appropriate level, work out the bugs, avoid hazardous products and defective products from going out in the market.
